Can someone explain why you guys give Ladd 7 years but not even negotiate with Okposo who has better production?

Thanks

- JVince11

Change the culture a bit, KO has been w/team and his failures in PO's I think sealed his fate. Even tho I hate the Ladd contract but for similar production Ladd brings what the team has been lacking, does that help u?

We're likely adding another forward...
- Isles_since_6

Gotcha. Who do you think we're adding? I know I'll come off as drilling you at this point but the question was asked in all seriousness.

i think snow decided it was time to make some changes. Okposo is a talented player but rarely plays with an edge and is very inconsistent. He's going to help the Sabres, you'll be frustrated with him at times though.
- Isles_since_6

Buffalo is the perfect place for him. He's not stupid. Their fans expect a lot, which is the way it should be, but he knows he's got a grace period there in terms of results.

He's a good addition for Buffalo, I'll root for him, but his time was up here. The playoffs were it for me.

I like Ladd. I'll take him over okposo any day but the clock is ticking on Tavares walking for nothing like 3 of our players did today.
- Cptmjl

That's my concern as well Cpt. 3 free agents and 3 walk. It doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling when that happens. They better sign JT to an extension July 1 next year. Stamkos and Hedman gave Tampa a nice home town discount and Frans doesn't stay with the Islanders offer more. Not a very good formula for success.

Okposo originally wanted around 7 million per year and did nothing in the playoffs. Okposo doesn't crash net and tends to trip over himself and the blueline several times per game usually

Monitor that Lightning situation.

That's a pretty bold statement upstate.
We will see soon enough and I hope your right because that 4th line was a huge part of the Islanders success. Hopefully they won't miss a beat and gel right away.

- nyisles7

I agree they were during the regular season. During the playoffs they were a non-factor.

Because Okposo is not that good. Before you think I'm saying that bcs you guys signed him read our thread for the last 5 yrs. I'd take Ladd over him any day of the week. Don't love the contract but I like okposo less...I'll assume Snow who I think sucks was smart enough to to think the same way

I don't know why we would still be talking about Martin.
- Isles_since_6

Because Chimira is being compared to who? And is better than who?
Oh right Mat Martin.

I think you guys are jumping the gun a bit. Today was a good day. I absolutely love that Chimera deal.

Lol, it's all good, 7 and I have been disagreeing a bit as well but it's part of having different opinions.

Gut instinct? I keep looking at the kings and wondering how they're going to make room under the cap. Toffoli would be a fantastic addition. Boston has to find a way to sign Marchand next season and Sweeney is a dolt. Avs may still want to shake things up and duchene may still be available. Hartnell might work in a swap for Bailey. Just guesses really

I get the sense that most of us think it was a good day as long as there are still some moves coming.

Honestly if you're thinking Martin was a better option than chimera then I'm not going to go any further with it. He's not.

Chimera kind of reminds of a Brian Bickell type player, with a little more upside. We're gonna love this guy.

Gotta think KO also may have wanted a change, seems to be the story line. Team wanted to change and so did the players

The first day of free agency is not even over yet. We're gonna do something. These guys don't want to lose JT. They know that would be a disaster.

True enough but 2 of them they put little to no effort into keeping. If they went balls out to keep all three and they walked, then I'd be concerned. This isn't like the year that Blake and all those other guys bolted.

Yep. Can't wait for them to call us bitter about okposo. That was real funny when they said that about Moulson. Then they signed him... Then...

Meh, they did their job. How did the rest of the teams line play?
To be fair, the Whole team was outplayed, out coached in the playoffs. Can't blame that on the 4th line.
