Martin gets exactly what he asked from the Isles months ago.. sorry to see him go at 2.5 mill.

Great human being, terrific teammate, did the best he could with his limited talent.... I wish him the best in Toronto.

Well I guess all the guys on here who were going to laugh their ass of when MM was signed for 4 million / year and KO was signed for 7 million per year and frans for 6.5 million a year aren't on here laughing today?

More and more apparent that management wanted to change the culture of the team. Ladd and Chimera definitely are a change. I still think Snow needs to add one more guy. We'll see what comes next.

Are you saying you'd rather have Martin than chimera?

All the people that defended snow on Twitter the other day for not trading Hamonic for Hall are nowhere to be seen. Maybe they realized what a retard he truly is. Or they're trying to come up with another excuse for him. (frank) Garth Snow!

Yeah, there were some inflated numbers reported, no question about it. Maybe those were the original asking prices from their agents?

Regardless, for me it was about shaking up the team. The three core guys we lost just weren't getting it done. If Snow kept the team the same for another 5 years, we'd all be quoting Einstein's definition of insanity.........doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Fact is, without further changes, the team COULD be worse next season. But it could also be better. I'm willing to give the new guys a chance.

chimera replaces martin, that in itself is a big upgrade. Kills penalties, scored 20 goals playing with wilson and beagle, speed and is nasty. How anyone is upset over this is beyond me.

I agree. The only downside is his age, but he can still play and the Isles are not in rebuild mode.

I fully expected that no way was Vanek returning to the Isles. And I'm fine with that...

I knew he would not be brought back and he does not fit with the character guys brought in today.

That was the key. As much as Martin is a fan favorite and all around good guy, Chimera in the short term is a better player.

20 goals vs 19 points, faster, penalty killer, doesn't hit as much but is much meaner than martin. I want guys like this on the isles. can play on 3rd or 4th line and costs a bit less.

So far we are tougher to play against and appear to be better in the playoffs. I loved Martin but I thought he was almost too nice to opposing players. Not nasty enough. What would we have to give up to get JVR, or Landeskog? How does everyone feel about the rumor that we were looking into Evander Kane? He has serious talent but has had numerous off ice issues.

Evander Kane seems to be a locker room cancer. Pass.

Well that isn't totally correct the Islanders apparently offered Frans more money and more term but he left anyway. Also heard the Islanders were still speaking with MM today so I think your right on KO but not the other 2.

I would have been okay with franz coming back, but he made his choice and I wish him good luck. Hadn't seen anything saying isles had talked to Martin. Re nielsen, I think it was a bit more total money but spread over 7 years instead of 6 so a bit less per, either way snow clearly wanted him back and franz chose to try somewhere new.

either way, once chimera signed there's no room for martin. Kulemin takes his spot, chimera on third line and one top six in trade and this team should be moving in the right direction if the trade is for the right guy.

Hey Garth, after EVERYTHING, we STILL need a top line winger for Tavares. (Oh, and a 2C)
