Sakic is doing his job and listening to other teams calling, hes not shopping any of his players but hes not stopping teams from calling so he can find out what teams are looking for, offering, etc, to get a grasp on the market. However its the other market media guys who "hear their team is talking to the Avs about a core guy"

They leak that into a storyline that a blockbuster is going down.

Listening isn't shopping. Just like how the Ducks were calling about Landeskog at the draft and where told that the conversation would have to include Lindholm, which cooled the talks. However when the Leafs call, it leaks out to a major story line.

Like I said there is no guaranteed as things can change overnight in trade talks. but all the guys who cover the Avs have been saying its nothing more than Sakic just doing his job fielding calls to figure out what the market is right now.

Yet someone like Mirtle tweets that the Avs are able to do a blockbuster....well he was out to lunch thinking that a team listening to another teams trade call is a done deal..hell there were guys on this site who said they have sources claiming that the trade call was done and going to be announced in the next few hours.
