High school must be way different now from when I was there 15 years ago. That's the kind of thing that would've got a kid teased and beaten up everyday. Or at least until they dropped out or shot up the place.

Next to no offense, poor breakouts, high cap hit, and little physical presence. I'm not saying I don't agree he has value in the right situation, but there's plenty of reasons for him to have a bad rap.

Your D corps only brings one new Dman and relies on Oesterle and Nurse to be our injury fill-ins. I can't comfortably go into the season without at least one notable bottom-4 guy.

He was never brought in to be offensive, nor does he get PP time. He is a defensive dman. That is like complaining the Gryba doesn't bring offense, it isn't a part of his job description.

Sek isn't' a physically dominating Dman. Petry wasn't either, but we would love to have him back.

For all intents and purposes Fayne is a reliable 2 pair Dman, and it showed with his pairing with Sek. It was known that Fayne plays better with a certain type of partner, which Sek filled better than his other partners, one that will handle the puck.

Would I like to see another Top 4 RHD brought in as an upgrade? Yes.
I just don't see it happening. So we are where we are, and that Top 4 is very servicable

Would I like to see another RHD brought in to play 3rd pair? Sure, kinda wish they would just sign Gryba. I also agree with iggy that I doubt Nurse starts in the AHL.

Disagree. He's balanced the roster and changed the dynamic of the team to one much more suited to the Western Conference. I won't go into detail again as I've clearly laid out my stance a number of times this past week or so, but at the end of the day, this team needed to win and to do so we needed Dmen. If you can tell me what Chiarelli should've done to acquire a young top-4 Dman with the potential Larsson has, I'd love to hear it. Give me an alternative that you think would produce better results.

The fact of the matter is Shero said what I believe every other GM in the league was thinking whenever dealing with Chiarelli and that is, "(I)f it wasn't Hall, it wasn't going to happen".

Larsson is a really bad skater. After watching games of new jersey for the past 3 days, he reminds me of Reinhart, you can see he processes the game at a very high level he just doesn't get places in time. I watch him stand around an just control the front of the net while Andy Greene does all the work down low against speed. its pains me to to think this guy might be a a better version of Fayne. I love lucic signing but Pete is going to get fired by next summer for this trade.

All Gryba brings better than Fayne was physicality. For all of Fayne's faults in the other areas he is a better player.

Petry over his career nets 1 more point per 10 games. Not game breaking in the slightest. So his offensive ability is minimally better. He was not obviously more physical and his defensive lapses while as an Oiler were often criticized.

Both are solid complimentary partners on a pairing and neither are 1st pair material. Fayne doesn't have to have Sekera, but he does work best with a partner that he will defer to to make the offensive contribution. I hope that Davidson and Nurse make enough strides this year that Fayne can pair down to the 3rd and help compliment them.
