can they send him all the way to the echl?

honest question... i really dont know

- Dozzer

Yes, although the NHLPA would probably file a grievance.

To me this sounds like the kid thinks his career is over.

Otherwise you take the buyout, become a UFA and sign elsewhere.

Two paycheques at once.

it isnt dishonourable to expect whats owed to you

and sign somewhere else? no (frank)ing way anyone signs him... and if somehow some gm got drunk enough to do so it certainly wouldnt be for 3 million

he is well within his rights... both morally and legally

- Dozzer

Someone will Dozzie. Some one will. There is always that one team out there.

Why did he ask to play last year if he did nothing questionable morally? Why did this mysterious injury develop only after he was placed on waivers? Leafs exercised a legal right to buy him out and he faked an injury - what is honorable and legal about that?

He could be a free agent if bought out and if he chose that more difficult but more honorable route, he could easily make the same money. I don't blame Cowen either, some people cheat insurance companies, some are thieves and some work for their money. It's more a question of character, which is why I called him a cockroach. All that said, I think the Leafs will win this one in arbitration.
- winsix

You need to step back and gain some perspective.

You don't know Cowen.

You don't know a damn thing about his medical condition.

So please spare us the personal insults.

The NHL and NHLPA have a collective bargaining agreement that will dictate how this plays out.

Having surgery that was recommended by a doctor does not make him a cockroach.

1: their is simply no factual evidence that he faked anything

2: the leafs took him with the intent of using him for a cap tool and nothing more

3: he never signed with the leafs, he never got to play a game for the leafs or the marlies, nor did the leafs want him too... they actually gave him permission to speak to other teams mid season.

IF it was a faked injury the leafs were fully on board with it. he owes this franchise nothing... absolutely nothing. i dont blame him one bit.

hopefully we don't get stuck with Russell... even if his asking price lowers.

edit;

Word is that Demers took a little less on this deal than others were offering to join #FlaPanthers. Been an ambitious off-season in Florida.

You are correct, I do not know about his medical condition. If you have seen a report by a doctor that recommended surgery, you have information I have not seen yet.

Put yourself in Leaf's management position.
Wouldn't you find it rather suspicious that an injury is reported after the team's intent is explained? I will await the ruling in arbitration, pulling for the Leafs.

Reading about the Radulov signing - I hate to admit it, but it sounds likeva good move.

He was captain of his KHL team, which probably indicates he has matured.

And apparently they consulted Weber, who endorsed the idea of signing him.

I agree with this statement, I do not blame him at all. It is a question of ethics for me, and we will see the results after arbitration when more facts come out.
