Maybe. But that's years after the genre was inaugurated. Then the decade after he died spawned bands that took what he did to newer heights of speed and technicality. It's difficult to separate chuck from the rest of death metal.

All great, and listened to them a lot at one point in time. I've since devolved to listening to grind core and power violence myself. Something about the intensity piques my interest over technical prowess these days
