You didn't, I brought it up.

What's he going to do then?

- Scabeh

Soak up ice time and hopefully not get scored against.

No. Martin at least has a (frank) or two to give. Vanek has zero of said (frank)s. I don't want players like him around the kids.
- BetterCallSaul

I agree, can't believe he was signed after watching him in Montreal.

Besides play hockey? Play hockey. The same thing Shaw will do. What did you expect me to say? Ride elephants and sniff out terrorists?

L.A. won two using players like Martin. I don't love the deal, but it doesn't erase the good Shanty and Co. have done.
- BetterCallSaul

only thing i don't like is the term. 4 years is too much imo

2.5M is alright...especially since there were reports saying he wanted 3-4M .

I'm fine with 2.5M ..not coming out of my pockets, and neither of yours.

Relax lol

I think it's cute so many are angry over such a minor move. Omg 2.5 million. Omg 3rd 4th liner!? We could have signed 4 elite players for 2.5 million!? And how are we going to win the cup next year without that 2.5? We were so close and they blew it!

It's not the end of the world, you're right.

And hey, if some are happy with this, good for them.

Matt Martin gives the team some grit and throws the body. Lead the league In hits last year....with the smaller forwards the leafs needed someone who will get down right dirty....with Leo and Martin the leafs have a little of that.

Would love to see a deal to bring langeskog to the leafs too....even if it cost us JVR plus plus to land him..

Between manrner, nylander and Matthews....not a lot of grit....we needed a guy like Martin..and for what we paid.....it's a great deal for the Leafs.

- Kinggilmour

I agree good signing. Would we rather have Lucic for 7@6? No thanks

They said they were addressing some toughness and they did. Now where the (frank) is the help on D they desperately need.

I'd rather see young guys not get destroyed by douchebags like Rinaldo

Rinaldo is done. Likely won't see any more NHL action

Leafs losing Grabner means we lost our primary penalty killer. Martin kills penalties (when he's not serving them) and also blocks a lot of shots. He isn't scared to sacrifice the body to win a game. For what they paid....he will fit right in with Leo on the 3rd line.

I'm neither happy or upset They paid a small price for a player with a small role.

I was wondering if Martin could kill penalties. Because if he can do that effectively, then the deal looks a whole lot better.

THEY DON'T NEED MORE TOUGHNESS, THEY NEED SOMEBODY WHO CAN HANDLE THE PUCK BETTER THAN A FOURTEEN YEAR OLD GETTING HIS HANDS ON A PAIR OF TITS FOR THE FIRST (frank)ING TIME!!!
