I would do it. Say Tampa wanted McNeill and TVR... Would you consent? - 93Joe
Tampa will want MUCH more than that for Drouin. |

The criticism of Q and the Bowman's on this blog is crazy. Do the posters think these guys were just lucky to amass the number of wins and rings they have? Were they just fortunate to have good players? Have they become idiots since assembling and coaching the 2015 cup team? I am sorry. I just don't get it. - -Doh-
They deserve criticism. The same way Seabrook or Toews or Kane get criticized.
Bowman is a product of a plethora of brilliance handed to him on a silver platter. The core that won the Cups...Toews, Kane, Hossa, Seabrook, Crawford, Keith and Hammer NOT one were acquired by Bowman. Without that core covering for Bowman then we wouldn't have people like you running to his defense everytime someone lodges LEGIT complain at him.

StevieY can get a lot more than a 7th d-man and a 4th line winger (at best) for Drouin.

Work the numbers Al.....for next year. I would agree with you, but just saying IT will be done, isnt' a solution.
There is an impending bonus to Campbell going to be hit, more then likely. Have to assume Panarin will put up similar numbers baring an injury to himself or 88 so throw ANOTHER 2.375 on the fire for next year.
what you will see.....with a relatively flat cap, is not good.
Have to start at 6 AAV based on comparables. panarin > ladd, raduluv, nielsen - SteveRain
Panarin is also better than Filip Forsberg who just got $6mil x6 years |

Zatkoff is a backup though. So that would point to what BUF is looking for. Not a new #1 (necessarily). Interesting though that BUF is in fact in the market for a goalie and I keep hearing CC connected to them. - John Jaeckel
Hey JJ - what do you speculate as the potential return for moving CC to BUF? Picks, 2G, forward, or a combination? |

Campbell played with a good Dman in Ekblad most of last year, but his fancy stats are very exciting....and Hamer or Seabs are pretty good too
Brian Campbell vs TVR 15/16 season....

Are you thinking the Hawks are waiting the Vessey situation? - z1990z
No Vesey is a nice to have. They would LOVE to plug a vet LW in there first, sign him and send him tot he Rock for at least 25 games. |

Pittsburgh ADDED Phil Kessel and Trevor Daley last year.
The Hawks have SUBTRACTED Saad (albeit replaced by Panarin), Sharp, Shaw, Panarin, Ladd,
So that's one huge difference.
Pittsburgh has also not depleted their farm system the last few years like the Hawks have.
Finally those three "rookies" were all 24 years old, none right out of college.
The Pittsburgh comparison is weak. - John Jaeckel
They didn't deplete their farm system when trading youth and picks to get Kessel?

I know it's kick the can until next summer...
I had the solution trade AA and bank $2.5 mill...That was the least risky most feasible move to me.

After what Saad did to the Ducks in the WCF, they probably would've given him $8mil He absolutely torn them to pieces. The SHG when he blew by their entire team... |

Hey Boys,
Had to go to a meeting for a bout an hour. Caught up on all the other trades in that time frame.
But what's up with all this Bread Man talk I'm seeing? Hawks looking to move him? |
|

Agreed.....
Bowman on Panarin extension "hard to predict that one...we can't do a deal by ourselves. Part of it is what their outlook is on things."
Not to be overly dramatic but if you go back and read Panarin's quotes from worlds and at the awards and this....and add them all together, he sees a team with cap issues, and won't reduce his price to do so.
Given that as of TODAY, they are NOT cup contenders, and if Panarin is asking for big money, which I bet he is (well above 6 AAV) based on what we saw today, Bowman may have no choice but to deal him IN season to get a monster return. More time that ticks towards 7/1 the less he gets back.
And Panarin, like Saad, WILL get an offer sheet. No question. - SteveRain
Curious why you say that, Steve? How many offer sheets are actually written/submitted at all? Has there been one this year? Last year? How many since Hammer?
It seems to me that I hear about 0 or 1 per year. I get the fact that if there is even 1 per year, Panarin is likely the one. But how many are actually written, versus merely threatened? Saddoffer sheet may have been rumored, may have been threatened, may have been whispered. But there never was a Saad offer sheet.
And BTW, how do we feel today about the trade compensation of AA and Dano, versus draft pick comp for a RFA signing that Saad would have brought? That would have been 1st and 3rd round picks. I loved the trade at the time, but now, in hindsight, hmmm. |

Juts got off the conference call....The way I interpret things the Hawks will add 1/2 veteran role players...Some young guys will make the rosters but don't expect a boatload. - Al
If the scouts recommend the right vet(s), Stan makes the numbers work and a Motte type contributes with the core hungry and rested with the improved D I'm on board.
It's not names I'm concerned with it's production.

The + would have to be big. The right time to get Drouin was BEFORE he blew up, back when he was in the Stevie Y doghouse. |
