As much as Barnaby is a clown, the guy rarely pokes into the rumor mill, but when he does, he is spot on 99% of the time

I would take this quote very seriously

I can second this. Hawk man is correct.

Hartman would be the closest thing to Shaw that might be ready in the minors. However, if Hartman doesn't reign in some of his on-ice antics, he looks more like Carcillo then he does Shaw. Additionally, Hartman hasn't been the type to camp out in front of the net in Rockford. That doesn't mean that he can't or won't do that, but he hasn't been employed in that role down in Rockford.
- EKB13

Thanks Eli! he is at about 0.50 PPG in the AHL, so would you say he has fairly limited offensive ability? Can he create his own shot? He had nice wheels in his short stint with the Hawks, but Shaw has been close to 40 points in the NHL, and Hartman hasnt hit 40 points in the minors. I'm tempering my expectations for Hartman.

It would be brilliant if he can do it. I am so sour on Bowman, but a shrewd move would really make me feel better about him.

Our 1LW last season was Shaw, Tuevo, Dano, Panik, Fleischmann... etc.
- JRoenick97

Hossa has regressed. It's nature of beast, guy is 37 going on 38. He isn't Hossa of 2008-2011. his production speaks for that.

Hawks are done unless a major bargain falls in their lap. Bowman just spoke and it's 100 minutes after the window opened.

So somebody roll out that top 12 for me and show me a cup contender.....

The criticism of Q and the Bowman's on this blog is crazy. Do the posters think these guys were just lucky to amass the number of wins and rings they have? Were they just fortunate to have good players? Have they become idiots since assembling and coaching the 2015 cup team? I am sorry. I just don't get it.

weise was used at the end of the series, and then you have to factor in what those replacements for those 3 fs (ladd, weise, and Fleischman) would have done or not done to produce upfront. Do they even reach a game 7 vs STL? I highly doubt it.

Point is, just sliding in Daley wasn't going to change their long term outcome this spring. no way. Just tired of hearing that same narrative from a vindictive writer who has a massive hard on against Quenneville. Same guy who loved to chastise Tallon for horrible cap management, now ignores that and focuses on pigeon holing the coach every chance he gets.

It's pathetic and contradictory. No wonder the score employs him........

- SteveRain

As far as Rozner the only nails on chalkboard I can't stand more is Bernheim, turn the radio off when I hear either of them.

I was ok with getting Daley and Garbutt. I was ok with getting rid of Daley if you can REPLACE him, same for what Garbutt brought at 925k. I was ok with all the TDL moves and think Q mangled them.

I think they get past STL if Q used Weise the whole series, Flash less so, and I think they get past STL if they have Daley as a #4, TVR as #5 with Weise and Flash minus Ladd.

I just think the whole thing was mangled 9 ways to Sunday, mostly by Q.

Q never won anything but RS games before coming to Chicago. Just saying.

EDIT: He pushed all the right buttons with a GREAT team to work with in 10, 15 and 16. He did NOT do that last year. We will see what he can do with a less than stellar forward group this year.

BOWMAN?

Isn't this really about the kid wanting to play with the Blackhawks here?

You think it's about Bowman being a salesman?

You think Kevin Hayes left because he wasn't sold on Chicago or did he think he could make big NHL money quicker with the Rangers where there were open roster spots?

Guess who has roster spots?

And if Nashville's David Poile was guaranteeing Vesey a top six line up spot before the playoffs started, that tells you THEIR scoutig staff thought he was "pretty ready."

Spot on. Oh and Saad Sharp and Oduya are gone from '15 and Laad n Shaw from last years first round exit. We added Soupy. This team is not a serious contender as is. Its forwards could not score 5 on 5 last year, outside of one line, you just lost two 20g guys. And.....Nashville just might have become the best team in the division.
- bhawks2241

100% agreed. Nashville and Minnesota are strong.

STL took a step back, Dallas lost D and has goaltending issues.

is what it is.

I get the blind loyalty to an extent, but people wishing for a "few more signings" don't realize the cap issue. you dont' have the money to pick up a guy to replace Shaw...you are hoping for an internal replacement. Lets hope Bowman's young assets come to play or else this core will have to be blown sky high to rebuild and free up money.

Hedman and Stamkos both signed. Next offseason should be interesting for Tampa Bay. The cap is calling.

Perhaps Bowman is working to trade for his rights, and Vessey has expressed interest in joining the Hawks?
- EKB13

Eli schools out...they do not need his rights...just him to sign on the dotted line...

Yes, bc after their healthy scratches, TT and Vermette played much better. Sharp-Vermette-TT was a GREAT 3rd line after the healthy scratches.

The problem is the bottom 6 isn't as good, and the 2nd line had a career year. You can't count on them following that up. The Hawks need MORE from somewhere else.

That said, adding a DSP and/or Hudler with a collection of players competing for other roles (Motte, Hartman, McNeill, Schmaltz, Kero, Hino, Louis, etc, etc, etc) there could be some potential at the forward line...

right now the team doesn't look that good overall at forward, because so many questions. But they could and should be answered at some point.

- kwolf68

The only thing I am sure of is Campbell at 2 mil is an absolute coup, the defense is heads and shoulders above last year's both nightly and in depth and that the Hawk roster today will be different come puck drop in OCT.

Bowman on an extension for Panarin: "Hard to predict on that one." Notes #Blackhawks have done extensions before, during, and after seasons.

All I know is I like the ride since Rocky & Team took over the Hawks pretty well so far and I'm pretty sure Mr "We like our team" ain't done yet. Can't look at the roster now and say what happens 1 month from now let alone 9 months from now. Just sayin! Bit premature to call them out before the seasons started, isn't it?

I'll wait and see what the opening day roster looks like. When it comes down to it, replacing ~30 points form Shaw isn't all that terrible. You can't replace his character, but the production isn't out of the realm of possibility. I think Tuevo's production is harder to replace on the 3rd line unless a rookie steps up.
