Wait, I thought that Vesey was in the same boat as Kevin Hayes. He's on an ELC and on Aug 15th he can sign with any team he wants but the terms are an ELC. I'm I wrong?
- Lido_Shuffle

It's not just that simple where everyone has to pay a maximum. There are bonuses included that teams can add that WOULD be cap restrictive (maybe potentially).

Kruger and question marks.

Almost zero offensive upside there. Potentially Schmaltz will be, but he is a huge TBD. This bottom 6 is a joke compared to the Penguins bottom 6. DO NOT get me wrong, I like a lot of these players, but there needs to be a bit more skill in here.

Hindsight is 20/20. This time last year Columbus was considered a potential up and coming team.

Yeah that's true ,good point, I know I thought they were going to be a playoff team

Holy crap. I hadn't thought of that. Brilliant. That kid who dropped to 4 is gonna be a stud.

As a big closet fan of CLB and the style they play I'm all for gambling on the Frenchy with 3 names........ Beast, absolute beast.

Trading Panarin would be suicide....
- MichaeLionheart

It would not be good, but if they got someone like Landeskog in return it would be more palatable.

Forsberg and Tarasenko are considered center pieces you can build an offense around. Do you think GMs see Panarin that same way, or more as a high end complementary piece? I think the difference in value between the two is significant.
- RomanF

Panarin is the second best forward on the Blackhawks (Patrick Kane is the first if anyone was wondering).

In terms of raw talent and athletic ability he is better than Forsberg and comparable to Tarasenko. He is a better skater than both, especially laterally. He may be the best skater in the league if were not talking about just straight line speed.

Certainly a centerpiece. He will get Tarasenko dollars and term or he will wear another jersey.

That mix makes up a good 4th line. Still missing a Cup champion caliber 3rd line. Unless some guys really really shine. No one really replaces Shaw in that group.

Is Vessy worth waiting for? I can't see him lining up next to 19 and 81 this fall...

Maybe they really don't need to wait, maybe they know already

Ok, yeah, I think the bonuses would have a cap on them so at least Blowman can offer the same.

I think it comes down to where Vesey wants to play and from what everyone is saying , thats Boston. I can only hope that the Hawks are offering a spot to play along side 19 and 88.

The worst group of 7 to 12 forwards I can remember on the Hawks in a long time.

I don't get that a lot of people wanted McGinn - who last year had a career year of 22g-39pts in 84gms....but not take a cheap flyer on Vanek who has been a consistent 20g scorer albeit only 18g/41pts in 74gms as a "horrible" year

MINN was a dumpster fire with Yeo. If they gave him a. 1yr 1-1.5mil dollar deal, I wouldn't hate it

Hawks "offered a spot" to Panarin last year, but he had proven it against men/big boys. Vesey has not, thus I can't imagine they offer him a LW-1 spot, but as diminished as the depth is I think they could easily offer him a roster spot. He would likely be the most talented player of all the new guys. Maybe better than Schmaltz. Not sure if he cleaned up the defensive part of his game, but if he didn't I could see him playing a lot of 4 minute nights for 'Stache. That said he has all kinds of potential.

Motte will score more than Schmaltz early in their careers.

No one wants Anisimov at 4.55. He's another contract that's not movable. He's a solid guy, but centers that can't win faceoffs who score 40 points centering for the Harlem Globetrotters just are not in demand. And before I hear about him "creating space", teams probably think they can get space creators for a lot less. Anisimov is really a L3-C, but the Hawks have always upslotted Kane's center...shoot he carried around Handzus for two years.
- kwolf68

That is a poor assessment of what he brings to the table.

Not to mention his point totals are about the same with much worse linemates in CBJ. Frans Nielsen just got 5.25m for 6 years, 4.5 for AA isn't that bad.

Campbell's wife drove the decision. So that logic is a little weak.

Respectfully with 72% of the cap tied up in 7 players, the farm depleted of NHL ready players due to making a yearly run at the cup do you know of any other options or have any answers?

I'd direct this question to any poster commenting on 1LW or the bottom 6 as well.
