There is nothing systematic about it, as it was in the years of the NHL-IIHF transfer agreement. With the Russian Hockey Federation, every team has the right to demand whatever fee it deems fit to release a player from his contract.

The player can buy his own way out of the contract. But it's rarely in his best interest to do so, unless he's going straight to the NHL. Let's say Rubtsov were to simultaneously buy his release and sign an ELC with the Flyers knowing he'd almost certainly have his contract slide to the Q this year. He'd be eating up his signing bonus installment to get out of his contract.

Conversely, if he waits out the KHL deal, he keeps his NHL signing bonus and, by that point, he'd be in the AHL/NHL picture.

The downside is that the player is very, very disappointed to go back to his junior team and the chances of a "lost season" increase significantly.

If I were Provy and saw Hanifin about to start his second NHL season and Werenski likely to play for CBJ this season, and I was looking at another 70+ games of Junior hockey, then I would be pretty damn disappointed.

Absolutely. Liked him in Dallas.

Actually, a player in the Dallas system whom I'd personally like to see the Flyers pursue is Brett Ritchie. Heavy game, a bit of scoring upside, and still young. But the Stars still like him.

He is at the top of my list.

Him and Massuchalt I think would be low risk signings that could have nice benefits moving forward.

He's basically Brayden Schenn, but worse
- PhillySportsGuy

So he is basicially a top 6 forward who can score about 45-50 points a season?

Especially after every single major media guy has said that he is too good for the WHL.

Hell, if I were him I might even mention KHL.

He produces at a 2rd line rate (5V5) with poor possession stats and just power play speciality. And it was reported during the season he was seeking $6M.
- arichardson22

Sounds good but only if he accepts a NMC

Hopefully that inspires him to have a great camp. I'm hopeful that both Morin and Sanheim have great camps as well.

What would Perron cost? Not for flyers interest just any team? I haven't heard anything about his ufa status this whole offseason or even a team that would be interested in him.

He can dispell all of that when he comes in and lights it up at camp...

Unless you play him on the top pp unit, he's unlikely to see those kinds of numbers. He's weak defensively too, so the points will come at a cost

So he is a second line talent. He had 51 points last year, 19 of which were on the PP. His other 51 point season he had 16 PP points.

Im not saying he is a top line guy.. But his scoring (especially from the left side) size, speed combo is something the Flyers do need.

Obviously not interested in 6m, but he does have something the Flyers kinda sorta need.

He'll be 34 at the end of it. hmmmmm... his speed in his younger days is intriguing. Never put up eye popping point totals. What's your love affair here?

there is no love between the two of us...others have posted they liked him as an option

The PP thing is a farce. His 5v5 scoring is very similar to Schenns.

The guy is a good second line left winger. His biggest downfall is he play in his own end. I will admit to that.

Guy definitely has skill and I'm not trying to bash him, and certainly can't argue with 51 points. But, he had poor possessions stats as practically a main guy for ARZ. And as PSG said, his lack of defense is a cost with his points total. We do need a left winger with a scoring touch but I don't think we could guarantee him top PP unit minutes if B Schenn is resigned. I know he was compared to Schenn in a comment, but I've seen more that he's been called a better Matt Read
