Yeah, that's what I said. - flyer_nutter
so you want to trade a kid who has scored 26 goals, has improved every year on a team that lacks scoring for a good dman who is going to be an UFA with the good chance he walks and either way will take big dollars to re-sign? I just can't do it. |

just wonder if will they be able to keep all of kucherov/palat/johnson?
I'd love one to come to Philly - Marc D
They aren't. Expect Johnson to go. |

IF we did trade for Shattenkirk, would that lead to another deal with a top level D prospect being traded for an offensive forward? - Buzzo
I think it be in our best interests to assuming it's fair value. |

bubble team?
i feel like with a few more tweaks we could be a 100 point team. think were closer to a perennial playoff threat than a bubble team - sjk540
I can see that viewpoint.
But I think if you start inserting young d men or the goaltending falters even a little, it's bubble land.

Because the demand wasn't as high. Three teams were after Weise. |

Call me crazy.
I want nothing to do with Shattenkirk. Small, and I question his defensive game.
He wants top dman money. Let someone else give it to him. |

See, here's the thing about today. Every time we sign or draft or trade for someone, there are some who are adamant it will be good, and some who disagree, and we fight about it.
But as always, sometimes things work out, sometimes they don't.
Mark Streit has worked out.
MDZ has worked out well.
Andrew MacDonald was in the AHL last fall and might be there again this fall.
R.J. Umberger was bought out.
Wheels was demoted, scratched and traded.
So on and so forth.
Dale Weise...I don't think he sees four years in Philadelphia. But maybe he will.
But just because some say he will, or won't, doesn't mean anyone knows today |

that is true, but look what happened when we inserted one last year. now not saying that it will happen that way, but with our coaching staff and Hexy steering the ship, i think if it does happen itll be done with the vigilence that it requires. if provy makes it or not, i think our defense will still be solid, and hopefully Hexy still has another thing or two up his sleeve to cement our top 9/bottom 6
for the first time in a while, goaltending on this team is the least of my worries. i think were safe there. |

I don't know which way I lean to be honest.
Just will be interesting if they decide to move Schenn because he wants 6 million instead of 5/year but are willing to throw a deal like that at Weise. I hate this time of year. (frank) you all.

I'm with you. I don't mind Wiese as a player I really don't. But I'm not overpaying, or getting in a bidding war for his services with other teams. Just isn't necessary. |

The one place I do like this deal is that the salary number means he could be moved in 2years. It won't be a contract that dooms the Flyers to keep him on the team. Those are the kind of deals they need to stop.
Not sure how I feel about this one but the fourth line does need an upgrade. Just wish it was (frank)ing VDV out on his ass first. |

Damn. Maybe the Flyers should have just resigned Vandevelde for 3 years at 1.5 million. Then we would have no complaints |

I think the only way you see something of substance is if he finds a way to move for a under 30 top pair D man then flip a d prospect for scoring help.
Other than that, I would like a show me contract for a former skilled guy.
