hey substitute Ryan White for Streit and Dale Weiss for Shattenkirk and they got this one right! - Marc D

Someone will fill in the goals. They always do. - MikesPillBottle
tall order to replace 20 plus goals. I am not anxious to move any of the top 5 forwards they have. if anything they need to add scoring |

that will do wonders for the lack of scoring issue - nastyflyergirl
it may, better movement from the backend leads to more scoring.

A player who was playing on the Flyers second unit PP last year out of the NHL. Pretty sad. |

I don't think it is a terrible signing. And I am NOT signalling you out here as many have said the same thing but the idea that 'he is tradeable' idea is absolute BS. If he is playing poor enough to trade him he will have no value (probably negative value) and if he is playing well enough then why trade him. It's not a sound 'silver-lining' or justifiable excuse. Sorry, I don't like it and find it worthless.
Just sayen. - coffee junkie
That can happen with any player. He's the type of player who's skill set doesn't tend to decline to the point where he doesn't have any value in his early 30's. I have no fear with the 4 years of term with Weise. |

If our team is relying on Schenn's production, we're (frank)ed.

Thanks Bill. I don't care for the Weise signing. He's at the end of his career, and you sign him for 4 years, blah. The Flyers are obsessed with guys that have size, but don't bring much else to the table. In addition, they like to sign guys past their prime. I would have stuck with McD on wing, dumped White, and stayed away from Weise. Thus, you have some cap room, and not just sign a guy to sign a guy. If he had signed a two year deal at 2 million, that's one thing, but 4 years is just too much in my book. Is he going to end up with the other McD in LHV? Ok, so I guess we have to take the good, with the bad, and ugly. Stick to the plan Hexy, and stay with the kids. Now, if we get rid of the other McD, or his NYI buddy, then it could make things less painful. Just sayin'. |

The way he played last year, he is a solid player I would love to keep.
Depends on cost, I hope he doesn't price himself out of town.
Flyers have trouble scoring goals already. I'll be (frank)ing sleeping during games. |

He was a playoff rental add, not a player they were looking for as a late bloomer., or strictly for offensive ability. I don't care that he didn't score in Chicago. - MJL
You don't have to care. And your opinion is no more valid than anyone else's on this player.
He might play well here, he might not. Neither of us know |

If you wouldn't trade Schenn for Shattenkirk because you're worried about replacing his goal production..... you're all crazy.

I'm happy to see them upgrade the Phantoms. It blows that the Flyers have been border line for 4 years but having the Phantoms be complete trash for the last half of a decade or more just adds insult to injury. It's like they weren't even trying to ice a decent team down there. |

Why is Weise at the end of his career? He's 28 years old. Do you honestly think Hextall signed a guy just because he has size, and brings nothing else, rather than bring up the obvious better choice in MacDonald? Weise is an NHL player. MacDonald is an AHL player, who you can call up for an injury replacement. |
