3 x $3.33 McGinn. Just as I thought.
Who was it who insisted he would get 4 x 4? - Feanor
McGinn is nothing special. He's Dale Weise but plays top 6 minutes. |

You don't evaluate a player like Weise on the basis of point production. Especially in a small sample size with a new team. Any idea why Chicago traded for him for the stretch run? - MJL
Yeah, I do: They thought he would score

Come on, man -- unless we have significant injuries, he's going to be used like he was in Chicago. He's not getting minutes over a single guy in a healthy Top 6, and that is where his production came from
What are you expecting from him? If you think it's 30 points in third-line usage, it won't - AllInForFlyers
you can almost count on that
also does he play any special teams? RW I know was used on pp2 but really it was not great, and on pk he was not helpful |

He's scored at the same rate as Raffl the past two seasons, even including his struggles in Chicago.
25 points on the 3rd line is a safe prediction. In Montreal he scored 49 ES points in 135 games while only getting 12:34 ES TOI/G. |

I'd rather bank the $2.5M and give Leier a chance on the 4th line.
I'm sure Weise will age well though - PhillySportsGuy

I would rather have signed Marchessault 2 years/750k. Or picked up someone later.
I don't know if that was sarcasm, but I don't think paying for his age 28-31 seasons is a huge worry about breaking down. |

I'm expecting around 10 goals and 20 points, which is still an upgrade over White and I like that they added a little more size to their bottom 6.

Raffl is a superior all around player and it's not close. We signed him to 1 less year. Rather have HIM signed to this deal. |

I hope so, but I don't see it. But I'm one of the people on here who will own it if I am wrong
I'm saying it: People are not going to like this deal 365 days from now, if he gets primarily third-line usage
If I'm wrong, I'll own it.

Some awful contracts today.
Okposo, Perron, Campbell were solid in their own ways. So many deals for guys who will be in their mid to late 30s though on huge cap hits who have already been shown to be breaking down. Some real disaster deals just got inked. - Mononoke
Yup, should be fun watching Kreici, Bergeron and Backes all break down together in Boston.

He got some pp time in Montreal, scored 3 pp goals last season.

They played him 9:01 of average icet ime at ES in the regular season, without PP time, and 8:05 of average ice time in the playoffs at ES without PP time. They didn't get him because of his scoring. He was brought in as a depth role player, and a playoff rental. |

Possible, all depends on who he plays with and if he gets some time on the 2nd pp unit.

youre saying empathically that Dale Weise cant score 30 points in a third line capacity. Matt read almost put up 30 points in 3rd line capacity while being a healthy scratch, playing the least amount of minutes in his life, and is 2 years older. |

If the Weise deal was 3 years, I'd be ok with it. If it was 2 years, I'd be satisfied. I worry that his game will begin to decline |

It's a good move, because it's a decent deal. Would I like it better at 3 years, with an aav of 2 million? Sure. But, all in all, it's a solid signing.
