Got to say DK is moved. I actually love Backes, one of my favorite players.

Long in the term, and maybe high on money but I like him better than Loui.

He's older than Eriksson. But Backes is a good defensive forward. Does embody the Bruins method

Maybe this was Sweeney's way of giving the Blues' GM the finger for asking the ridiculous price for Shattenkirk before the draft!

People keep saying Krejci has to be on his way out, are you all forgetting his value is probably at his lowest coming off surgery, is a pretty big risk due to injuries and term of contract, plus has a NMC?

Its all wishful thinking at this point.

Backes is a great get and i would take him over Loui any day. The price is high but we have a ton of space right now and Chara getting off the books soon.

Backes is 2C when Krejci breaks. Can we (frank)ing trade him now?

I'd prefer if the B's didn't sell low on Krejci. Spooner is gonna need a new deal next year, and Czarnik seems like he'd be able to step right in and fill that role. Backes can play 3C this year and move to 2RW or 3RW next year if Czarnik is ready.

I remember hearing StL wants young/cheap players or good prospects and picks for Shattenkirk...if that's the move the B's want to make, Spooner may actually be a better trade chip than 30 y/o Krejci and his 7+ mil contract

Dont love 5yr deal for Backes, but love him as a player and Krejci/Bergeron/Backes down the middle next year would be sweet.

Krejci is not going anywhere. Bruins signed Backes for his versatility as well. Look for him to play on the right side where we have holes. I still see Spooner centering the third.
Backes is a better fit for the Bruins then loui was as he adds grit and toughness, don't hate the signing and would rather have him then Lou.

What about D? Our most pressing need.
JML is ok for 1yr at 2mil.

Add Veasley and a D and now we're talking about possibly making the playoffs!! Will get bounced early and have to sit through another year of watching Claudes system, but HOT DAMN, we might make the playoffs!!!!!
