As I have said, want one of McGinn or Pirri, preferably McGinn. Helm and/or Grabner, both preferred, but one is fine. |

I haven't been there in so long. Last time I went was a couple years after they privatized it, and it was miraculous compared to when the state ran it. |

It sounds like most of the big fish like those players already have agreements in place with teams. Rangers gonna have to look at the secondary market - TPC
Helm and DSP to round out the bottom 6, sign the RFA's(obviously a longer project), and call it a day. Trades can happen at any point to improve this team. I do think Gorton dropped the ball, but I have to also understand other teams have to want what's on the roster. Can't make any splashes due to the cap so why force it?
Edit: so looking like Helm is off the table haha |

From the Daily News today. If accurate, none of it sounds great. Why I wanted Stalberg for more than one year last year and why he needs to be locked up before he gets there. Plus, why wouldn't you check on McGinn?
"Meanwhile to replenish depth, the Rangers had been interested in re-signing (Viktor) Stalberg – especially since he was pretty good in his first-ever penalty killing role at a $1.1 million cap hit. But as of early Thursday afternoon the Swede appeared headed to free agency, and if Stalberg gets to free agency, he will be gone, because he can skate and the Penguins’ speed opened eyes across the league.
The Rangers have not checked in on a depth forward they have pursued in years past, Anaheim free agent Jamie McGinn. It is unknown if they are one of many teams interested in Dale Weise, the former Ranger 2008 fourth-round pick who John Tortorella chased out of town only to become an established contributor for Vigneault’s Canucks and the Montreal Canadiens prior to an unproductive post-deadline stint in Chicago." |

so this is out of no where, but I wanted to get thoughts. what if the rangers could trade G or Staal for Nathan Horton? Horton from what I understand has a career ending injury so he goes on LTIR every year, but during the summer you can go 10% over the cap. so this would technically free up about $5M in cap space for the rangers to use... any thoughts? obviously not ideal but I personally dont think any teams want to take on G or Staals contract. |

Toronto has all the cash in the world and can do the same with Horton. Why would they want to take on Staals contract? |

The problem with LTIR is that you can only put a player on LTIR the day the regular season starts, but you have to be cap compliant the day before. |

Philly always needed to do weird waiver moves every start of the season when they had Prongers contract. Not sure how they worked but they always managed. |

Forget the contract, Staal is still a pretty good dman. He was shaky to start, but finished the season strong last year. |
