What do you guys think of Louie Eriksson for LW? Great two-way player.
How about Chad Johnson as a cheap back-up to accommodate a better winger and defenseman? |

For Guile.
I was pretty much kidding about Boll, but if they did sign him it would just be great to watch all you family oriented hockey fans whine about it. "I don't want my kids to watch fighting on ice" you know like you guys and all your friends say to each other at little league practice. I was however in favor of shipping Fehr out to clear his cap space and signing Downie for cheap since his overall awesomeness was too much for the family friendly folks in Arizona I'm sure he would be cheaper than Fehr. He is undoubtedly a more skilled player than Fehr, and much more entertaining to watch. This cup run wasn't even that fun, nothing epic happened. |

You seem to mistake me, I actually ENJOY fighting in hockey. There is a need for it at times, and definitely some rivalries call for it more often than just with another team with a brute player or two on the roster. I just see no reason to get a guy, who is just bad. I won't be polite here, Boll is a bad pro hockey player... whose skill, is fighting.
Waste of a roster spot.
edit: Didn't actually bother reading all your post... since it started off as stupid whiney dribble... but I wanted to keep Downie here. His skill was and is still legit, the cost so minor... and with what Sully just did, MAYBE he could have gotten him under control. |

I need a name(s). Also, what would $3-$4M of cap space do for a Cup contender with a full roster? Trade deadline acquisition? - T-Train
Names, we've thrown out dozens of names, pick a few, I really don't care... near no chance we free up the space so playing super down the line what if has gotten super boring.
But yes, keeping that space for this season, which would be the smarter move due to Dumo and Murray, would likely result in a rental. We're still the Penguins, someone is likely to be hurt, so a rental makes sense. |

Hockey fights are only cool when they're emotionally charged and real. Boll's the type of player that stages fights. |

In a Matt Cullen interview, he said "I had a chat with Jim Rutherford and he said he wants me back and was going to take to clear some cap space".
I think it's at least a little interesting because it's pretty much been expected we were going to stand pat. So maybe JR is willing to move someone....Fehr makes some sense because Sundqvist for all intents and purposes is ready. Wilson will be on the roster next year. So we have Sundqvist, Cullen, and Porter (as a 13th fwd) as guys that can move around in the bottom 6 as needed.
I like Fehr and think he will be better next year....I just cant think of anyone else that makes sense. Kunitz would need a replacement because we cant just assume Wilson can handle it. Fleury doesn't seem to be going anywhere right now.
And even at that, Fehr's biggest usefulness is that he is good injury insurance against someone like Bonino. Is it worth all that to save $2M? |

You seem to be unable to read. Boll was a joke. Downie doesnt need to be under control. Just llet him do his thing. |

The drafting of ANOTHER high tier prospect goalie had to make this a damn certainty you'd think. |

If Downie would play just hockey, he could be making 4mil+ a year as a top 6 winger on many teams. Hes damn good. |

I really do miss Downie, I thought he was great here. Say what you want about him not being a deterrence but that first game against CBJ I thought Dubinsky was going to cry.

I like Loui, but he is 1 head shot from eating through a straw the rest of his life...I dont think he gets as much as some would think. I dont think Boedker gets that much either. There are bigger F's on the market available. I think Boedker would be sick here. |

I do, too. My dark horse is Montreal. If Carey Price isn't 100% or if he re-injures himself in the WCoH, it would make perfect sense. The Habs are going for it now, especially with trading for an older defenseman who some say is on the decline. Also, Fleury has some say in where he goes and getting to go home is probably the #1 destination on his list. I know it sets up a Dallas situation if both are healthy, except that both are good goalies and they could expose one in the expansion draft or ship one out in the off-season (or put Price on LTIR if it comes down to that). I know, a lot of 'ifs". But you heard it here first.
I don't see anything coming back as they don't have much in the way of LWs except for Max Patch and I don't see them moving him. They are also thin on D, but the contracts of Markov and Fleury are exact matches. Markov for 1 year wouldn't be the worst thing. I would much rather have the cap space. |

Boedker is a near perfect fit and can play both sides which is clutch as hell. Not the level of player Id do backflips to fit under our cap though. Still think he gets 4.5-5 mil when really he's a 3.5-4 mil player. His raw athletic ability and the idea that he's meet full potential on a competant team will seduce someone. |

I think teams saw what the Pens did with speed last year and Boedker cashes in as a result. Grabner as well will probably get more than he should because he could be a Hagelin. |

I'd pass on a scoring winger that has never scored 20 goals in a season |

He's never put up 20g and failed to help CO push into the playoffs, I think those 2 will hurt his value a bit. He's also 26 so he's signing at his peak. He might be willing to take term vs money at this point factoring in his production. |

Exactly. Pens have ONE bona fide scoring winger and he doesn't even play in the top 6! |
