was christian erhoff really that much worse a choice than resigning a 47-year-old rozi?
was erhoff concussed or was he too expensive? - RedFeather
My guess is Rozy is going to play 30-40 games and be there to help Kempny get acclimated. |

I don't see how signing two depth guys for league minimum is Stan losing the power struggle. Sounds more like throwing Q a bone. - JRoenick97
Agreed. Better to have your 13th forward and 7th defenseman know the system and have some level of trust with the HC. Chances are there'll be a lot of new blood on the roster. |

don't you know right-handed defensemen are going for a premium this offseason? highway robbery by Stan to get him signed so low. now where is that red font button? |

Maybe Stamkos staying put reopens some talks Hawks have had with other teams who were in the running for him. - bhawk1s
This was my very first thought after reading JJ say BUF is still talking about Crawford. I think we need to watch if they can land Okposo or even a Ladd and if they don't Pagula wanting so badly to improve may look to do so in net....... But Murray did send a 1st rounder for Lehner who played very well for 20-25 games before breaking an ankle. Lehner has a ton of promise but has never carried the mail as a #1.
Another variable is I guess E Kane is in trouble with the law.
Agree with you here, bhawks.

There is a big "what if" scenario if Crawford does get traded. What if Darling wins 40 games and posts 5-10 shutouts and just dominates? Then you gotta pay him big bucks and the Hawks are in the same situation they are now. I wonder if maybe they'll extend Darling cheap during this summer... - Hawks_49
Next man up cuz any Crow money found goes to Panarin......... |

Here is the link to Patrick Kane on Hockey Central today--- talking about many things-- losing Shaw-- having input with players IF Bowman / Q ask--- and they have--
The more I think about this-- the Hawks success driven by the core-- has really allowed other teammates to become wealthy--- because without 19-88-2-7-81-4 No One makes any money-- Sport v Business--- Friendship v Business-- finding a way to coexist--
I'm sure Bufyglien, Saad and Shaw all grateful for the chance to win with the core-- and then get paid-- they didn't take any hometown discount either--
Now lets see if Campbell comes back--- and I too had thoughts that Sharp would end up back in Chicago to end his career-- we have witnessed something very special here--

Soupy added to that back end really makes it solid.
I would think you'll see Sharpie back home next season on a team friendly deal so he can finish out his career here. This one has McD written all over it. |

Agreed. Maybe a 3 year deal @ 1.25M AAV would be acceptable to Darling. This is with the assumption Crawford is being traded.
Panarin has to be priority. - Hawks_49
I think that's a bit low, 49. MAYBE 2-2+ over 3 years and if he can't handle being a #1 you ain't killed by the hit and term for a backup.

The two signings today are to address depth obviously and are known commodities to the Hawks and are safe, meaning the organization knows what it is getting, so can't fault that. Concerning Crawfish, I go back to what I have said before it is one thing to want to trade a player but you better have someone to fill that position! I like Darling for 18 to 20 starts.Iit is unknown if we are going to like him at 60 to 65 starts. If Crawfish is dealt a goalie would have to come back to the Hawks to be a back-up I would think so we are hoping that Darling and a back-up are equal to Crawfish? Come on, at best it would be a sideways move. You build from the net out, why would you move a very good net minder for the unknown? |

If Campbell comes at 2 mil that is absolutely huge. An under the radar coup for this team at this time.

Does anyone have any objections to Stempniak? I know he's a bit older, but he played really well with Boston last year. Always around the net and has a good shot (which he can elevate). He might fit well as a 2-3 LW. - Chunk
No, I think this is the kind of guy the Hawks land this year. A useful vet who can slot a couple of spots. The kind of guy you can pencil in for 40 pts and hope for 50.
It's up to the scouts now to find a useful fit from the bargain bin pile. Don't know if Stempniak is that guy but something similar.

Lots of chatter on Twitter about Colorado making a move potentially involving Landeskog....$4M LW? No links to Hawks but to lots of other teams. |

Definitely--- and it allows more development time for the defense prospects that were rushed last year--
Also wonder what the impact is on Keith-- if it allows him more creativity IF he is paired back up with Seabrook? |

Patience. This may take well into the summer. - blackhawk24
I hesitate to mention the word patience when StanBow is concerned but look what patience has done for Stevie Y in Tampa. He kept Drouin and Stamkos is back.
Patience can be a virtue, a sign of paralysis or being unrealistic about your asset.

His cap hit is $5.571 million for another 5 years and I think he's worth it. I'd be surprised if Colorado was shopping this kid. |

Here is hoping stan still pursues connor carrick. I think my issue with today's signings is the timing. I don't think people are going to be knocking down the door to sign those two. If you look at the quality of players being bought out, there is a lot of players out there that probably would have contributed a lot more than the two that Chicago signed today |

Stan did the same thing last summer when he signed Rundblad. |
