It really does seem as though any lineup that has had Mashinter in it is certain be a 3 line team. Just the way its been in the past, i doubt he's changed or gotten any better.
My formula for avoiding becoming a 3 line team is to build around a Toews/Hossa line, a Kane line(we know he's good enough to make just about anyone look good with him), a Panarin/Anisimov "3rd" line, and a Desi/Kruger 4th line. Follow that formula and there's still hope. Even with Mashinter on the roster. - SimpleJack
For all the downside to Mash, at least he can hang around the net and knock in the occasional goal. Hopefully he will just be a cheap alternative to the 13th forward spot to allow the Hawks some flexibility with the cap. |

At his age he is looking for a multiyear deal. I think the Hawks should stay away from signing anyone to a multiyear deal until they move one of their multiyear contracts (Anisimov). |

Much as I love the Crow, this would be a very logical move to make. - kwolf68
Agree here. Crow is a beast, but the cap is killing us. Upgrade D with Soupy and Kempny and let Darling roll as #1 isn't a terrible bet. |

With Mashinter on the roster expect Q to peddle him out there on a fairly regular basis. Hell, he got run in the playoffs for crying out loud. What next? An extension for David Rundblad? |

Do you think that he would waive to Buffalo? Yes, they have a young core but...Buffalo? |

Agreed here... Give him and the swede the reigns and see what happens. I wonder what the return from Buffalo would be? |

Maybe Stamkos staying put reopens some talks Hawks have had with other teams who were in the running for him. |

Yep. In a perfect world Crow goes NOWHERE. He's a warrior and a winner, but what the hell other options do we have? The bottom 6 is gonna be littered with scrubs, no left wing with 19 again and Panarin gone next year. |

Can't go that route. Gotta spread out the forward firepower or else we'll be a 3 line team. - SimpleJack
No Boll. Stop it. He has scored more than 7 points 1 time in the last 8 years. |

The moment Bowman gives this clod another extension it should be followed by Bowman's resignation. Trading for the guy was a bad move, but doubling down on him twice was just laughingly bad. |

There is a big "what if" scenario if Crawford does get traded. What if Darling wins 40 games and posts 5-10 shutouts and just dominates? Then you gotta pay him big bucks and the Hawks are in the same situation they are now. I wonder if maybe they'll extend Darling cheap during this summer... |

Yes, extend him for cheap and if not then gotta let him go the F/A route. BE thinking of HIS replacement NOW. If Darling has a big year chances are the Hawks have a big year. |

And the Blue Jackets just bought out Jared Boll. He is a real goon that can actually catch NHL players to inflict a solid body check. Also, he actually wins fights. If Q and Toews want a goon in the lineup, FINE, go get a NHL quality Goon. Mashinter is an AHL goon. - EnzoD

Maybe this move answers why they are loading up on D. Hell you could do a lot worse than having Rozival as a 7th D man, assuming Campbell is returning. |
