Good on face offs, can play LW. Might be better paired with AA keeping possession of the puck and Kane on offense.
- Marlowe

There were some reports coming out (Wyshynski?? I think) from his agent that he wants to play more (read almost solely) as a centre, as that's what he prefers. If he only wants to play C, is he still as useful to the Hawks?

If he is willing to acquiesce and play LW on a line with either Toews or Kane (depending on where they play Panarin), I personally wouldn't mind seeing him in a Hawks sweater for a year on a bargain deal

Do you think we could get him cheaply?
- HamiltonHawk

Unlikely. Hudler is 32 now, so I'd expect him to try to cash in on his last long-term contract somewhere. But you just never know until it happens. I'd bet on a 4 year deal though, with an AAV at or above what he just had(4M)

JJ,

Have you heard anything about the Hawks and Sam Gagner? This would be the perfect opportunity to sign him to a 1 year "prove yourself" deal after the worst season of his career. Played with Kane before, and until last year was a consistent 40-50 point guy every year of his career.

Too bad. I knew it was unlikely but I was hoping there was a way they could sign Ladd

Lot of smoke around Staal going to the Wild. He would play C there.

Guys . . .

GUYS . . .

TVR has value. Svedberg not so much. It's not that they don't like TVR. It's not that they WANT to trade him.

LIKE IT OR NOT ...

Rozy was not signed just to give Q a warm, squishy feeling. He is GOING TO PLAY. Probably 40 games or more. And he is going to play because it is Kempny's first season outside of Europe.

So who sits in that event?

TVR.

Sure, he's a great insurance policy as a 7th defenseman, but the Hawks are likely saying, you know what? Maybe we can get some value for him, like a solid third or fourth line winger or a 2nd round pick—instead of having him in the press box for 30-40 games, which isn't fair to HIM.

OR, they decide to keep him, that is certainly possible.

- John Jaeckel

Ok no reason for shouting (kidding JJ), but do have a question who plays when Rozsy sits for 40 games?

I would have love to have had Ladd back but I figured it was unlikely. That said, as a Long Island resident, it is a great (albeit friggin expensive) place to raise a family. I'm glad he didn't let the logistical concerns of traveling from Long Island to Brooklyn on game day get in the way.

I've heard that as well but don't they have cap issues and still need to pay Dumba (who I know is being talked about in trades) and Jason Zucker?

I think they just signed Zucker for something reasonable.

LeBrun on Twitter
San Jose Sharks looking for a D-man who can play on both sides on third pairing and on second PP unit. Puck mover.

Anybody know someone like that?

EDIT: Zucker signed 2x$2M. http://www.foxsports.com/...-million-extension-062916

Hey Golf,

EK's got the Wings looking at Brouwer as well. Must be nice to have the League I mean the Yotes help out with that Datsyuk contract...

Shame about Laddie but when can you do...sick of losing guys especially talent drafted and developed here like Shaw, Saad, Buff, the list is long...

I'll say they don't have depth . Someone said on here close to being the worse bottom six in league and I would agree. Still can't believe we resigned Rozy n Mash.
Mcginn don't think we can afford him
Stall think he is done
Hudler don't think we wànt another small forward
forget the other names mentioned.

If bread man makes his bonuses this year say 2.3 million
and the Hawks sign him for say 5.5 mill for the following year
his cap hit will 7.8 for 2017 . So we could trade Crawford for nothing today
and still not be able to sign Breadman. So we can't realistically sign anyone over 2 million for more then this year.

I will keep repeating to myself WE HAVE WON THREE CUPS
WE HAVE WON THREE CUPS
WE HAVE WON THREE CUPS

- HamiltonHawk

Actually that is incorrect. He makes 812,000 plus we already have 2.6 on the books this year for his bonus. So lets say he has the same bonus next year (then nothing changes cap wise) and we jettison CC that still leaves 6.8 for Panarin so yeah 5.5 would not be a problem. Or am I wrong here?

But hey, if you told me they'd lose an all-star team in free agency and trades since 2010 and have 3 Cups to show for it, then I would sign up for that.

He's the odd man out, Rick.

Apparently . . . so I was told . . . they want Rozy playing with Kempny for language reasons.

He also potentially brings something of value back for the reasons you cite above.

- John Jaeckel

OK I will buy what you are selling. Should be very decent trade value considering he plays for 2 years at $825K and maybe they have concerns about his long term durability and speed.

(But I keep thinking about gutless Rundblad and how he is probably staying and making 200 grand more than TVR. Something very wrong about that).

If in 2005-2006 (The Adrian Aucoin era *shudders at the memory* ) someone told me that in the ten years the Hawks would have 3 Stanley Cups, a league MVP, a Calder trophy winner, multiple future HOF'ers and so on........... After my initial skepticism, I'd definitely take that

Hudler in particular has played on both wings and has played well on both wings, so I could see the interest. Especially for a guy who had 76 points just two seasons ago, and has an insanely high shooting percentage over the last five seasons.
- Hawks_49

His SPG over over 11 years is freakish at 15%. He just doesn't shoot much as a winger. Reminds me of Filppula in that way but Filppula is a center.
