Because at this point, TVR is an overpay for Yakupov.

Besides, it chiarelli. a 2020 7th rounder should do it.

Kyle Cumiskey for Yak. Chiarelli gets a Dman, Q gets somebody to abuse.
- RickJ

heck, Cumiskey is probably worth RNH on the Chiarelli scale.

While that is true, I find it hard to believe a 3rd rounder is the asking price. I feel like a team definitely would've taken a waiver on him by now if that was it. Time will tell.

Maybe but at a 2.5M cap hit, it really not a gamble the Hawks can take a chance on.

Someplace like Jersey might. They have cap space for days and need bodies.

More to it than just points. McDavid is going to break the bank in 2 years with a max deal and the Oil have a bunch of other big contracts on the books (RNH, Eberle, Sekera) that nobody else will take with a stagnant cap. And now they probably want to overpay Lucic so they have somebody to protect #97 on the ice.

Hall is a helluva player but not great. He should good in Jersey if they can find him a center.

Career AVG of 70 points per 82GP and most of his damage is done 5v5. Just really hard to believe that recent AHLer and nearly considered "bust" Adam Larsson was the best Chiarelli could do. Just shows you how few good young dmen there are in the league right now...

Problem with Hall is that he is kinda one dimensional. Not a leader, can't kill penalties and had issues staying healthy. All drawbacks to his value in a trade IMO.

Not they are not worth it, but I wonder if they could do it over again if Toews and Kane would settle for 8 or 8.5 and free up 3 to 4 mill a year to build a supporting cast?

Not sure if my numbers are accurate, but hey are at 10 mill right?

I wouldn't be quite so quick to judge the trade. No doubt Hall is the better player but the Oilers more than likely got a very good D man, maybe a number 2. I think the Oil will be better as they improve their D and won't miss Hall too much. Also the salary cap is going to jump up and bite them within the next 2 years with McJesus , Draisaitl and others due a big jump. Let's face it, after 10 years of no playoffs , they need to make some bold moves to improve. I see them finally heading in the right direction.

JJ, what are your thoughts on the 1 year
term? I would think if the deal is right they
would want to lock him up for at least 2-3.

Keep the hope alive! Still don't know why they signed Mash...

If they can move Anisimov then they can afford McGinn/Jooris/Yakupov

Not hip on moving TVR. What are they going to do when Soupy is gone after this season? Not to mention that if he has a good year, he would be worth twice what he is now.

The only scenario I can see is if TVR brings back a solid winger to play with Toews but that seems like a long shot.

TWT what Larsson becomes, but Taylor Hall has been an elite point producer in the NHL since the day he was drafted. One could say that 88+72 are one dimensional, doesn't mean you trade them for Adam Larsson.

I could be wrong, but I think TVR will be exposed to the expansion draft. Also, if TVR is being shopped, I'd hope it's as part of a package with a large cap hit to get a better return...

Not typically, but I am pretty sure PC did his due diligence and this was the best he could come up with at this time. The apparent Subban deal was to rich for the Oilers due to the Habs wanting Drai , Nurse or Klefbom , plus the 4th. It's tough but I am pretty sure the Oilers will be a playoff contender this season with the other moves they will make. If they fail again then PC is done.

Chiarelli doesn't care who he trades, Hall is just the latest big name. He has already done Tyler Seguin, Blake Wheeler, Phil Kessel and I think he traded Z.Chara to Boston when he was with Ottawa.

At $825K per for 2 years he would be a real bargain for somebody. Hawks should keep him.

Hey, who needs supremely talented PPG All-Star caliber top line forwards when you can have guys like Riley Smith and Adam Larsson?

McDavid better not get too fast or skilled or else he's out the door next...

Be nice if Campbell would sign on for 2 years at say 1.5 per. Would stabilize things both this year and next. At the very worst, it will beat what they have at 5 and 6.
