I have accepted that Crow is leaving. I am not happy about it but it is what it is.

It is enticing from a fan's POV. But Panarin, like Landeskog will only get better. Again, subtracting 1 for another - still stuck with one top 6 LW. Gotta think Panarin's ceiling is a bit higher Mr R?
- 93Joe

Ceiling his higher how, points wise? Yes Pan has a higher ceiling in that department but in every other way Landeskog at TWENTY THREE (!!!!!!!) already cost controlled for below market checks every other box better than Panarin does.

If Toews has 80 point possibilities a guy like Landeskog would bring it out of him. I'd add Landeskog will/could keep Toews healthier longer as well. .......Landeskog is a mean customer, skates like a 175 lb skill guy, has hit 270 shots, 220 hits, 65 points in different seasons and has a captains character.

Excellent advanced stats. http://www.hockey-referen.../players/l/landega01.html

3 way trade - E Kane to COL - C Crawford to BUF - Landeskog to CHI!!!
- Marlowe

Three ways are rare in the NHL. I doubt it.

Agreed. Al...do you think the Hawks have any interest in bringing Brad Richards back at a team friendly deal? Just curious. I know it does not solve our LW issue...but we would be solid down the middle and at D if the Soupy reports come true.

But with Bettman ready and willing to have a player in the LGBT community go public (not like Stéphane Richer, who hide his wardrobe), the possibilities are open...

Higher ceiling in general. Points, potential, skill. I'll agree that Landeskog provides intangibles, such as leadership and physicality, but Panarin put up what? 78 points? Pretty remarkable.

I am not saying I would not make that trade, because we end up basically where we are now - one top 6 LW and still need to subtract salary.

So Tom Wilson gets $2M x 2 years-- How in the world is Matt Martin double that ask?

Or even Shaw at his AAV--

uh...

Wilson has 14 CAREER goals in 231 regular season games

Shaw has scored 20 goals in a SEASON and won two cups

Shaw has 3 seasons of goal scoring at or above Wilsons career total

RALEIGH, NC – Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has bought out the remainder of defenseman James Wisniewski’s contract.

wouldn't he be a better option then Roz, I do think having Roz in camp and playing some games in Rockford is a good idea and then you have some insurance for the playoffs. He should not be our 7th D man though.

Wiz is always injured---do you think he would do it at 600K-- like Rozy?

I know he's injury prone, but the Hurricanes just bought out Wisniewski's contract.

Maybe they could bring him back for real cheap. Would be nice to have a Defensemen with an edge.

If Baun makes the club it will be because he has improved a lot over the summer...a lot.
So far nothing to write home about in Rockford.

- Al

Agreed Al.
Also, some guys seem to "play down" to the level of guys around them versus other guys that can lift/elevate their teammates' play.

Not saying Baun is the former, really don't know and the fact he was injured for a good part of the year - not surprising there isn't much to say about his time at the Rock this past season.

Would like to see the guy succeed.
Has he put in any effort off-season? Not long to go before we all find out what he and others efforts have been.

I would think all of the young guys have trained hard but I have nothing specific.

For what my novice eyes were worth, I caught Baun's first NHL game from the 100 level against the Wild. I was really impressed with his size, speed and positioning, but the dude has hands of stone. Could have been nerves, but I doubt it. Seems like a lot of these Rockford guys all have a fatal flaw that ultimately keeps them in the A.
