There wasn't a girl before this and this girl seems to be more concerned with social media then anything else.

Like I said the last guy that was ran out of town was Lynch and he actually did something that was illegal.

How about Dareus? How about Hughes? McCoy?

- Stripes77

This is different because Kane was already run out of one city.

I don't hate the guy, he needs to grow up and produce on the ice.

I was all for the trade when it happened. I gave him the benefit of the doubt that he was the Winnipeg whipping boy.

You build with centers who can make wingers better. Wingers are easier to find. The elite wingers are hard to come by but the ones that can plug in next to a good center and put in their tap ins are a dime a dozen. Look no farther than this year's cup winner. We're fine.

So Girgensons is awful now?

He had a down year. It happens. He was probably more disappointed in his season than any of us were. He's 22 years old. I think it's a bit premature to say he's awful.

- HonkFortheGoose

Yes. He is. He does not have one thing where you say "He is really good at that". He is okay at parts of his game but he's not great at any one thing. He tries really hard, people like that because we think we're "blue-collar" but that doesn't get you much if you don't have skill alongside it.

No but look at the trades for wingers in the past year

Kane
Hall
Kessel
Saad

Who gave up the most for the underperforming player?

- sbroads24

I'm afraid that's the case for any Buffalo GM until Mr. Pegula moves us away from the stigma past owners have put on the team. It's definitely going in the right direction.

But Lynch shaped up when he went to Seattle.

Kane has not

I can't be the only one that thinks Girgensons still has talent and top 6 potential. He's shown some real offensive flair in this young career. He had a terrible year last year but I think he can bounce back.

George Laraque seems to be in the know somehow. He was the first to report the Subban trade possibility etc.

his quote on Kane:
"It seems now they want to pull the plug on it. I'm not sure you could give the guy away with all his baggage"

Its not just us fans here. he has a reputation around the league.

That doesn't mean it's the smart move. I'm not saying it isn't being talked about I'm saying it's a dumb move. You gain so little from moving him.

I said he was awful. Meaning last year he was awful.
- bluengold12

When you just say "Grigensons is awful" that means you feel he's awful. Period. Not just last year, but altogether, awful.

If you meant he was awful last year, say "he was awful last year."

I'm hoping he has a much better year this year. I think he definitely has it in him.

He can't produce offensively to the point he deserves to be in the top 6 at all. Not on a good team. Maybe on a Ted Nolan team that is trying to tank, sure, but not one that is serious about playoffs.

You're not. I think he's a young player that struggled to find his place in the lineup. The coach didn't do him any favors either, but I still expect him to figure it out.

There were flashes last year of what he's capable of. He just struggled to maintain it under Bylsma. I'm going to give him another year before I say "he's awful."

I mean, so do I. Most people who dislike players but like the team want them to do well (I say most because I know some would be mad if certain players did well). I just don't think it'll happen realistically. He's a 3rd line player at best and at worst he's a 4th liner. His ceiling is not top 6 on a good team.

Not every guy needs to have the hockey IQ of Reinhart or Eichel. There are plenty of guys in the league that are successful even without that high level. Hockey IQ isn't the be all end all.

I just hate how quick people turn on these players after one bad year. It's the same thing with Ennis, and Pysyk (before he was traded)

Unless you do one or two things amazing you need a high hockey IQ to be in the top 6 in the NHL.

Ovi doesn't have a high hockey IQ but man can he shoot and skate.

Girgensons doesn't skate well, doesn't have a great shot, and he is not the best passer. He tries very hard. There is a spot for him here but its not in the top 6.

Totally agree. And it's frustrating. I think he'll get there. People just need to not throw him to the wolves because he didn't have the type of season they wanted.

I would be interested to see what he would do in NY or LA where he would blend in.

They were talking on SiriusXM today about how while the fans loved PK Subban, the front office, and even some of his teammates grew tired of his act. Subban simply has a different personality. Now, look at Kane, whose teammates already turned on him in one market causing him to be run out of town. That's what he would have to worry about anywhere he goes.

That being said, some of this is definitely racially motivated, meaning he might be placed under a stronger microscope. He's definitely not doing himself any favors.
