YIKES......... I haven't seen reaction like this in almost any trade EVER.
I always thought PC was better at making moves than drafting.... and so far, every oilers fan, myself included, would take this trade back if we could tomorrow ! |

I saw it, not sure where the puck moving d-men are coming from...your comment on Sempniak I agree with
Oilers will struggle to score this season big time though IMO - flashfire
One of their issues was getting the puck from d to f. They need a transitional d, Larsson should help this. He may not rack up points, but he will be a catalyst in transitioning the pucks direction. |

I hope the Oilers fans don't have any misdirected anger towards Larsson. He is what he is.
Does a Lucic signing help soften the blow at all? |

He's far more sound defensively
I think it's clear what type of team chiarelli wants
its crazy how the narrative of the small soft oilers is going to be drastically changed if we sign milan.
Hell, it pretty much should be already, but people love their name power.
Lucic, maroon, kassian, Hendricks, nurse, Davidson, pouliot.
Even Leon, pulju are behemoths - Ihateallofu
Nurse won't be around much, hopefully. Give him most of the year to develop and mature in the A. |

Give Larsson some time to grow. He's going to be really good, and really good for the culture of the oilers. He will teach all the young kids on D the way its done. I'd say he's even future Vezina trophy winner. Oilers got their number #1 Dman. They gave up a great player in return but it had to be done. - Deadmau55
That would be one he'll of a dman to be the best goalie... |

Oilers scored just 199 goals last year (26th) and almost nothing from their blueline. Larsson helps fix this how? - Matt_Henderson

How is it possible that you guys keep having the crappiest GMs in the league? I'm a Nucks fan and even I feel bad for you guys. Jeez - Joinable
Lol. May have lost the fight, but the war has definetly not been settled. You still have Benning. |

There's some truth to this
I think larsson might be being underestimated pretty badly.
But aside from other moves or whstever, it shouldn't really change thst at face value, the oilers lost this trade short term.
However, I will say that I doubt nuge/ebs got it done as I'm sure they shopped first. so the alternative was to stand pat
After 6 years of bottom feeding, I dunno if that's wise - Ihateallofu
If I'm understanding you, I think you think it's better than not doing the trade. It's not good but it's a need for the organisation to move forward - if that's correct, I agree with you 100%.
It hasn't worked till now, & if nothing happens what can possibly happen?
I think you guys need time to make other moves, fill the cap space this opens up & see how your changed team goes before calling the padded cell ward for your GM.
Like the old saying goes, 1 step back to go 2 forward! |

This is one of the worst trades I can remember.
The trade could've been for rnh or ebs and it wouldn't be as bad but still lopsided.
The deal should've fetched at least Larsson, good prospect and a first (or at least 2 seconds).

Do we think Chiarelli was unwilling to deal within the conference? Hasn't Anaheim been looking for a winger and have a few young defenseman to spare?
Hard to believe this was the best deal out there.

Maybe Larsson was the best offer on the table for any Oilers player? |

Hmmm.
I'm not sure I see the connection here.
We were never ever going to win a cup without a true top pairing guy on the right side
We may have that now. Admittedly, I haven't see a ton of him, but I know he's got the pedigree, and just stood up to tough minutes as a top pair guy.
It's a question mark and we lost the trade on face value for sure.
But in not so sure I think we're Furthur from a cup with lucic and larsson - Ihateallofu
You're reaching trying to justify this deal. This is your comment from a little over a week ago
No matter how much the oilers would love to have hamonic, he's just flat out not worth hall. And some mediocre add ins ain't gonna change that
Eberle or nuge on the other hand... - Ihateallofu

Count me in the minority as one who sees this move as a positive for the Oilers. They need a guy like Larsson more than they need a guy like Hall plain and simple.
Not only does this set them on the course to respectability, it sets them on a course to be a cup contender. You can't win without defense, and you just added the best D man from one of the top defensive teams in the league. They don't need a Karlsson to come in and score 80 points. All they need is for Larsson to put up around 30 to 40 and free up offensive starts for guys like Nurse and Klefbom. |

This really was an awful trade. People will try and justify this and that about Larson but he just isn't any where in the realm of good enough to be traded for Hall. If you came to the leafs and asked us if we would do Morgan Rielly for Taylor Hall I would honestly have to sit there and think about it. The oilers reeked of desperation and got burnt because of it. |

This is true. Obviously the Oilers would have rather traded Hall for a Subban or Josi or Ekblad or Seth Jones...but those players just aren't available in this market. Larsson is the next best thing. A very young NHL veteran with a top pairing ceiling and a cap friendly contract. |

Yak and RNH should be the trade chips (in that order), then Eberle, then Hall.
