Take solace in the fact that the Oilers are dealing from a pile of riches. Even with Hall gone, not many teams can boast the potential of that forward depth.

Agreed, the trade makes us better in the short term ( if we sign a LW replacement), but unless Larrson developed into a truly special player ala Victor Hedman were gonna be pretty mediocre.

As for the over paying ? I'm not so upset about it. All we've done is stockpile and not spend, and that hasn't been working.

At the end of the Day, Chiarelli hasn't proven to be much better than Tambo or MacT as Oilers GM.

I already know how it's going to pan out. We are going to sign Lucic and maybe Demers to long overpaid contracts. We will see improvement and make the playoffs next year. Everyone will be excited and happy to be improved. Then we will be stuck with overpaid guys long term trying to resign McDavid, Nurse and Drai and Puljuju but we'll be up against the cap. We will be a 15-10 place team in the league for a decade and nothing more.
