Marc Bergevin is a horrible GM. Peter Chiarelli is a pathetic GM. And Stamkos is a bigger idiot. |

Hey Habs fans. how's things?
How do you feel about the offseason so far? - prock

Yup, this trade is really making me question being a Habs fan. I can't believe a human could be so (frank)ing stupid as our pile of dog poop gm. He's got the traditional hard work modest cliche spewing automaton mantra for a hockey player along with Michelle Therrien so far up his ass that he can't tolerate a hockey player who chooses to be different from the norm. Congrats Nashville, you crushed us in this trade. - apex123
Nope! This is a good trade, maybe not what you wanted in return ( top 3 or 6 offensive player ) but still a good trade. Too many Hab fans are star bitten with PK, love how he makes them feel, but in reality was not going to be a leader on this team. Maybe he will be able to pull it off somewhere else, but it wasn't going to happen in Montreal. His hype is greater than his contribution, this is a team sport and we need team players. I wish him all the luck, now MB go get a top 6 forward.

No, if they were trading a defenseman I'd definitely want someone back to take the #1 Dmen minutes. The reason I despise this deal is Weber's age and the contract. Given Weber's age, the most we're likely going to get out of him is 3-4 quality years. Granted he might not totally suck after, but Subban will certainly be far better at that point in his prime. Then there's his contract which goes until he's 40 or so. The last 4 or 5 years are likely to be another Scott Gomez situation. Finally even right now, it's debateable who is better: point totals and possesion stats favour Subban. Also this isn't bias. If Weber was 28 and not signed for another 10 years I'd be fine with this deal. |

Some have already said he has lost a step or two from playing 40 mins a game for 10 yrs...great leader and veteran much needed qualities on any team but just don't see him being the offensively dormant dman that subban is |

I get where you are coming from, but you are assuming that Weber will decline in a few years and that PK is going to get better. It's about the team getting better and I think that is what MB is trying to do with this trade. I have hired and fired a lot of employees in my life, seen some real stallions, but some didn't make the company better. It's all about opinions at this point, it took a lot of courage for MB to pull the trigger, I bet that he has earned a lot of respect in the dressing room and around the league for today and tomorrow.

20 goals, finished 9th in Norris votes and was one of the 1st players named to team Canada... not bad for a guy who's lost a step or 2 |

This deal will go down with the Chris Chelios and Patrick Roy deals as being among the worst in team history. I can't even put into words how ticked off I am at the team right now. This was a big "F U" to the fans. |

There's more to this than talent, his teammates hated him. It's an addition by substraction, heck the team even played better after he got injured. We got better for a few seasons (maybe not) and we gain a mentor for guys like Sergachev, Beaulieu.
Bergevin tried to get a package from Edmonton, when they they moved Hall he responded with the Nashville trade. |

This is what I've been saying. The win for MTL was trading away Subban. The icing on the cake was to get a guy like Weber. When you trade for the same position in this case it's being done for a culture change. Not comparing the trade but Umberger for Hartnell was the same reason. Flyers just hoped Umberger wasn't gonna be so poopty

But can be bought out of the back half of it for next to nothing as his yearly salary will be at around a million bucks in 5 years |
