May not be as effective out west, I'd hold off judgement until next season.

I think having the puck, so that the other team does not have the puck is pretty effective league wide

I always say if PK get move it take one of the 5 best d men in the league in return or we have no deal... no way MB had trade is best d men (with markov age) for Offence, Elite d men are so tough to get either in trade or UFA,

I'm so happy for one reason, if your a UFA player and get call by MB to join Montreal, is it more attractive joining with Weber or Subban ? No doubt Weber would attract more top 6 forward here, everyone love him, he's a really good jack !

I wish the best to PK in Country city... he will be a very good seller for them, Fan would love him.... now montreal have more then 9m to spend with a full roster already sign, so deals can come if we sign a really good player and need $ to resign our own player like Galchy and Price in future... i think that Emelin time in montreal with a 4m contract is expand... would love to see russian d men get move for some offence.....

Andrew Shaw 6 years/$24M, Subban for Weber, he's making some big bold moves!

Replace "bold" with (frank)ing dumb(frank) idiotic and I agree.

I think Weber was top 5 a few years ago.. not so much anymore. He's good don't get me wrong, but his best years are behind him.

Yes but history tells us that he would have to be extremely lucky to be an effective top 4 defenseman in those last 3/4 years based on how he plays. Subban is just now entering his prime and plays a much more sustainable brand of defense.
- Mordecai

At 1.5 per year weber will be a cheap 5d. That is in like 5 years of weber is still a good 4d he could be a 5-6 million a year player that only costs 1.5. Paul Martin gets 5 a year at the age weber will be paid 1.5 per year.

That being said I'm not sure weber will be motivated to play at those salaries

Yup, this trade is really making me question being a Habs fan. I can't believe a human could be so (frank)ing stupid as our pile of dog poop gm. He's got the traditional hard work modest cliche spewing automaton mantra for a hockey player along with Michelle Therrien so far up his ass that he can't tolerate a hockey player who chooses to be different from the norm. Congrats Nashville, you crushed us in this trade.

I'm happy to see PK out of our division. Playing Montreal is easy and will always be easy now a days.

Sad day in Canada when two Florida teams are better than each and every Canadian team. I love it.

Save the "we have fans you don't chant" we've heard it all. It's a shame all those millions of fans north if the boarder watch below average hockey all season long. At least the very few panther fans get to enjoy top tier hockey for once.

That's all

I was sort of thinking that Therrien might have had something to do with this trade and acquiring Shaw. He probably thought the Habs were too "soff".

Toronto is def doing the right things. And if they would have signed Stammer to a massive deal it would of hurt them later.
- poisondhearts37

I agree with this, it would seem like a waste the first couple years until our young guys get their feet wet. We would probably be much better served waiting a couple years and taking a run at JT if he becomes available.

Contrary to what you might think not all leaf fans thought this was a good idea, the dollars they were talking about was enormous and to be honest it was not really in line with the rebuild. A number of leaf fans looked at this as the same kessel type contract.
