The 5 years at 4 million for Larsson had to be part of the selling point. The amount of internet butthurt of why didn't my team get Hall is amazing.

Thats what I was saying about the ROR trade. Did they trade the best player in the Deal, yes. But they moved out 10m in Cap b/w him and McGinn and brought in 5 pieces under 20 years old.

1 step back now to be 2 steps fwd later on in the future. This is the same with the Hall deal, they gave up the best player however got something the desperately needed and now have a little cap space to help plug another hole.

Whatever roll the dice and see what happens in 4 years. Who knows what Hall does out there too, its new waters in a new coach/conference/market for him

I just dont understand why Chiarelli makes this trade. Taylor Hall is a 1LW on at least 25 NHL teams. Adam Larson is a 1D on zero NHL teams. I understand that defenseman are valued more than wingers, but this trade is a head-scratcher. Larsson has a career high of 24 points in the NHL, and was in the AHL for the majority of the 13/14 season. Did Hall ever play one game outside of the NHL since he was drafted? I am not trolling, or trying to rub salt in the wound, BTW. If I was an Oilers fan, I would be getting the torches and pitchforks and marching towards Peter Chiarelli's house demanding an explanation....or save the franking explanation, and burn that mother to the ground.

Trading from an area of strength for an area of need, sure, I get that. But Hall was your 2nd best player behind McDavid, right? Wouldn't the Oil have been better off trading BOTH Yakupov and RNH instead of Hall? Or targeting a dman that either has higher upside or NHL success already on his resume? This trade really sucks, IMO..even if the cap savings equate to Lucic + Demers. You've got to get more back for Taylor Hall. SMFH Chiarelli. Heck, shouldve been on the phone with Montreal for a package around Hall for Subban....

Ask yourself, what GM in the league is going to do the Oilers and favours and offer them a fair deal to over paying for Hall when the Oilers are desperate for D and need to make changes.

They were getting low balled on every player out there. yak, RNH, Eberle. Hall had to be their last result and still this is what they could do.

Grigo and Zads are better than people give them credit for. They are only 21 and 20 years old and they have some really solid underlying numbers. For "Lazy Russians" for why they were traded, they sure don't play like it
