a trade needed to be done... standing pat was not an option... good on chia for going out and filling a need.

Wow. Don't check in on the Buzz for one day and look what happens.

FWIW Jersey is one of the three teams I watch religiously so I can say in all honesty that Iv'e seen quite a bit of Larsson and how he has progressed the last two years in particular. While I wish Chiapet had snagged a pick plus Larsson I am satisfied with the trade. Larsson is what the Oilers need now. He is only going to get better. And his contract is a gem.

We may have traded the better player but we are a better team because of it.
And good on Chiapet for having the (frank)ing balls to finally try and do something about the poop show that is the Oilers defence.

- Wildschwein

Excellent perspective. Plus this.

The vast majority of people are absolute morons

Pointing to more people on your side doesn't hold any cred imo

Would you rather have dealt Hall for 1 (frank)ing year of Shattenkirk?
- Wildschwein

this is the popular opinion, but very short sighted and poor cap management.... hall was moved out of conference and the oilers have a right handed minute eater.

All without even giving the new lineup a chance. Good for them.

Group think and popular narrative as evidence ?

Surprising

I am using the "this is the opinion on blogs and twitter" as a citable source of facts on the next paper I write.

Just to balance the reactions a bit. Would Edmonton rather have traded Hall for Larsson, or south for Hamilton? Arguably similar ceilings, similar growth at current, completely different styles of play. Not poking the bear, just asking.

If you get raped in a Hall deal, why trade him? Trade RNH, Eberle +++, why get raped?
Problem is everyone is panicking that trades have to be made asap, why? Season doesn't start until Oct.

- ifiwasgm

Devils were very high on Larsson, you weren't getting him for Eberle. With Zacha and McLeod now in the system, they may have soured on trading for RNH, especially with a very similar player in Henrique.

Larsson was obviously PCs guy if he couldn't get Subban/Hamonic, and he did what it took to go out and get him.

I'm own man, not too worried about. There's about 5 people who's opinions on hockey related matters I respect on this site, and they know who they are.

Larsson. He hasn't put up the same offensive numbers but in my viewing experience he is the more defensively reliable option.

And I'd just as soon never see Hall don a Flames jersey.

A solid hockey post from Leon? What's next? An Ogopogo sighting on camera?

Good work

Dude. You know I am good for at least 3 or 4 of these a year, when I actually want to be serious on this site. Hard to be serious on a site that is often times overrun by wrestling talk and gifs, JB posting, and boobies.

If I were like the Islanders fans, I would make a comment about Hall not being good enough for team Canada, but I have class, so I won't.

The other thing nobody has mentioned, not that I read back, is that it puts the Captaincy debate to rest at least.
