Is Oil Town a better team today?..... yes. Especially if your Fin can step in an play some top six minutes for you. He doesn't need to replace Hall, merely mitigate the damage. If lucic comes to town on a 6/6 deal you will be a much better team for a few more years.

If Demers comes to town as well, watch out Western Conference. These guys will be a fast hard hitting team. Washington competes with no elite defensemen. Even Anahiem does. (They both merely have an excess of top pairing guys, and to be fair Lindholm is looking more and more the part. I also really like Carlson.)

But with a top four of Klefbom, Demers, Sekara and Larsson you will be able to transition and alot 45-48 minutes per game to four consistent players. If Klefbom, Larsson and Nurse take a step forward, even if in varying amounts, the corps looks deep.

Larsson had 18 points for NJ last year. A +15 rating to boot while averaging 22 and half minutes per game, for a team that had bottom of the NHL scoring. To see him pot 30 this year with some PP time isn't unreasonable.

Not all of this needs to happen for oil to make playoffs next year. They're improving at least.

All that being said, this was an unmitigated disaster of a trade. I cannot believe the rest of the organization allowed him to do this. PC should be fired for this today. Hall is a top five LW in the NHL. Larsson isn't even top five on some teams.
