Wedgewood needs to start in Albany. He had some good games last year, but was outplayed by Danis. Kinkaid is for 1 year left, left him backup then make that decision next year. - Devils9503
In what universe did Danis outplay Wedgewood? Wedgewood started all of Albanys playoff games and in the regular season had a 25 point higher sv pct and almost a goal lower GAA. |

You ever play? I (frank)ing hate so many numbers on jerseys. - shvingter88
I played when I was young, but I never really put any thought into the aesthetics of numbers. When you say it, I see what you mean, I just never thought about it. |

This is such a great trade. Yes losing Larsson leaves a hole on D but Hall is by far a superior talent and with our D prospects hopefully one of them can step in and fill Larsson's shoes. Getting a player like Hall is going to cost something and quite frankly the Devil's didn't have to pay as much as they should have.

Not a bad lineup compared to last year. - njdevils950003
You picked a strangely good time to come around man! Did you know something we didn't? This blog hasn't seen this much action since 2012.
The lineup absolutely looks better this year. I can't wait to see what the kids all look like in camp.

Mixed emotions
Love that we got hall and didnt give up more but larsson is going to be hard to replace, very steady in his end and didnt have much help offensively
Hopefully severson steps up as he looked very good as a rookie and has alot of potential
We vot something we needed but also lost a reliable dman that was underrated |

The amount of people that don't regard Larsson as an asset is astounding. The internet is acting like we traded Pete Harrold for Hall. |

23 year old 4th overall pick, used to facing top competition for more than a season, 6'3, 205lbs, 2-way dman with the poise of a veteran, 5 years left of a 4.16 cap hit. VERY nice addition to any defense.
Last year he really solidified his game and himself as a top pair guy. He's no Doughty or Carlson, but he'd be the guy you want next to them. VERY sad to see him go and he leaves a huge hole. |

Hall-Henrique-Palmieri
Zacha-McLeod-Bastian
I think Zacha will be better on wing being that he has a big body and decent shot. I'm selling the farm that Henrique and Hall are going to rekindle their OHL chemistry at the NHL level. couldn't be any more pumped. If everyone develops to potential, this is a very good top 6. Some potentially dangerous players in there.
Zajac will be a very good 3rd line 2-way center for us.. reminiscent of Madden.
To me, the biggest question mark is what happens with Quenneville. Zajac won't be gone for several years, and Quenneville should be ready long before that. One or the other may be traded eventually. - MartysBetter88
Wasn't Q on LW for Canada? I think he plays there too - one thing I remember both Mcleod and Bastian saying is that they can play any position in their interviews, I don't know how well though so we may have some flexibility there.
I must say, it is so much more fun to play around with potential future line combos now all of the sudden:
Hall-Henrique-Palmieri
Zacha-McLeod-Bastian
Blandisi-Quennville-Boucher - Speers-Wood-Anderson-Gignac..

I'd honestly have to pause and think if they offered Hall for Rielly... New Jersey bent the oilers over and went in dry. |

I did 6 mostly. When I realized I wasn't that great I gave it up for 2. 6 is still my fav number. Outside of JR's 27 |

There is an interview with Hall and one with Shero on the Devils website.
Hall sounds disappointed and shocked, but also happy to come here and make them look stupid for trading him. Said he is looking forward to seeing Adam. He said he liked what Hynes and Shero had to say. They ask him if he is disappointed about 70 times which is totally stupid but it's cool to hear what he thinks.
Shero in his interview said they have been talking about organizational needs with the Oilers since he took the reigns. Mentions Jacobs and Santini I can't wait for camp and pre-season to start. |

Hoping Hall wears 5 so I can change the Larsson jersey I bought 6 months ago...
I have no luck with jerseys. Had a Kovy and Parise. That worked out so well for me. Larsson is clearly a fail with this happening. Wish my zajac jersey I got years ago would lead to him being off the team
Oh well, still have my Kenny D. He'll never let me down |

I think the point is you got a decent dman for a 70 point player. The oilers got a bench warmer. (Hes not that bad but you get the point.) |

He was on the top pair and played the toughest comp all season
Just a minor Detail though I guess |

While it's obvious why the Devils made this move, I think Larsson has untapped potential. I don't think it's a given long-term that it's as one-sided as people are saying. |

Larsson is better than people realize. Just looking at the points doesn't provide the entire picture. |

And on a team like Edmonton that can skate freely, it would be no surprise to see Larsson get 35-40 points with the probable power play time coming his way.
I really like Hall, who from a physical standpoint reminds me of Mark Messier. But Larsson isn't receiving enough credit for his upside either. Two decades ago the Devils got Scott Stevens for Brendan Shanahan. That worked out pretty well. Right now Larsson isn't Scott Stevens. But Hall isn't Shanny either. If Larsson becomes a top D-man this trade could look different in 5 years. Larsson has the talent to do it even though he isn't flashy. |

Ok, so I only read the 1st page of comments. Forgive me if It's been said:
Gudbranson, 5th
McCann, 2nd, 4th
looking a lot better now eh?
D are crazy expensive. But still, Edmonton should have got more. Or, traded Hall for a better D altogether!
However, despite all this Jesse P (no need to spell last name) and looks like Lucic. EDM will be just fine, if not better.
Also, Larsson is still maturing. Good D. He could still get a bit better. But, if I were an Oiler fan I'd be on suicide watch.... jk |

You're forgetting Cam to start the year. Also, Boucher goes on waivers now and I would preferred to see what Boucher can continue to do and not just throw him away for an almost retired Elias. - Devils9503
ummm, he mentioned cam. Boucher does not go through waivers. Dunno what your talking about. He was just given a qualified offer the other day. |
