I wouldn't use this trade to determine value. it looks like Chirelli started drinking a little early for the long weekend. - fiveandagame
Right after CBJ announced the Jones signing. He can't find a #1 RHD anywhere and those fools in Ohio manage to get one locked up at only $5.4 per for 6 years. |

Right, so in truth, Yandle is Campbells replacement, Matheson is Kulikovs replacement, Pysyk is Guddys replacement and Mitchell is addition by subtraction? - RonPielep
I think Mitchell had value for them until the end. The rest, I think, is about right.

I almost choked to death on water today when I heard the Hall trade. Karma at its finest. Then Bergevin. |

In all seriousness, doesn't the idea of bringing the Canadian Tire CEO into the Leafs meeting with Stamkos smack of cap circumvention?
We all knew that Stamkos would be well-positioned to make big money on sponsorship deals if he signed with the Leafs, but if it's some sort of formal partnership where Cdn Tire promises to take on a certain percent of Stamkos' income (which would also be exempt from escrow, I imagine), that seems like a step down a slippery slope.
I could see an agent or a lawyer advising a client to stay far away from a situation like that. - Carol Schram
not necessarily. we're getting into a grey area but i think the leafs were well within their rights to negotiate hard.
i'll refer you to s26.3 (c) (ii) of the cba:
However, nothing in this Section 26.3(e) is intended to prohibit a Player
from entering into a sponsorship, endorsement or other commercial
arrangement with a local sponsor or entity with which his Club does
business but which is not a Club Affiliated Entity, in which the Player
receives something of value, provided the thing of value received is
commensurate with (i.e., not clearly in excess of) the fair market value of
the services rendered by the Player on behalf of the sponsor or entity

Mitchell was the captain and did help mentor many players, I can't say not having him on the team is good.
Plus the guy has an enormous reach with his stick. |

willie was the one who dragged guddy's numbers down.
i forget which bloggers did a deeper look into the stats and found that when guddy was paired with willie, his numbers were horrible. when he was paired with campbell, his numbers were pretty good. which is also a promising (or at least hopeful) sign that guddy can improve his numbers full time with a better offensive dman (hello hutton).
we all love willie but his day has passed. |

http://www.nhl.com/nhl/en...12/NHL_NHLPA_2013_CBA.pdf - RealityChecker I said it was a pipe dream. Where would you want to play? Detroit, Buffalo, Toronto, or Tampa. I stated from the beginning its all about logistics. Every team can compete as far as salary goes but where would you rather live? Bottom line quality of lifestyle. That is one of the reasons Vancouver is so desirable. We have an advantage there. |

If I'm Milan Lucic I'm asking for even more money now that Taylor Hall is out of the picture. They literally have no other option. #Oilers |

I remember that too and he does have better numbers when he's away from Willie. I think in Vancity Eric will get a lot better shot because he'll be playing with a better defenseman and won't be asked to do a lot of backfill for that guy. |
