Jason Brough @JasonPHT · 16m .
Subban to NJ for Hall and I'd never stop laughing, ever
Brad Ziemer @BradZiemer · 17m17 minutes ago
Maybe the #Canucks should have offered Sbisa straight up for Hall....9

Weber is better defensively and equal offensively, and cheaper cap hit. makes sense when Patches and Price need new contracts soon. |

They probably had this worked out last week but had to wait at least 24 hours after the league got their easy money out of Benning.

I... I have nothing... I got nothing... that... makes no sense... Weber... Subban... WTF?!?!
It's literally a lateral move for BOTH teams... I can sort of see it on Nashville's point of view, Subban is younger, with a shorter contract and probably compliments Josi better. But Montreal... that's insane. - DariusKnight
Maybe the Habs really did need to get Subban out of that room. Weber might also be a bit better deterrent from guys running Price. |

He's also older and slower than Subban, and has a contract that runs until he's 40. It's literally a lateral move that saves money short term. I can see it from Nashville's point of view because I follow them closely, Nashville has Josi who compliments Subban's game better than Weber and Subban is younger with a shorter contract even if it's a bigger cap hit... just a very strange move for Montreal. |

Subbing has 6 years left
Weber still has 8 @ 7.9
I forgot how long that damn contract of Weber's is

agreed.
i just see that bergevin never really liked or wanted subban. let's remember that it was molson who negotiated (or finalized) the deal. add in the rumoured dressing room issues and it was a recipe for a trade before his ntc kicked.
still mind blowing.
trade deadline is dead. all hail the draft week to july 1. |

That's true, but Montreal is now on the hook for recapture if Weber retires before that contract is done. I can understand them wanting Subban out of the room, but man, that's hard to swallow if you're a Montreal fan. You're getting older, slower, better defensively, and probably tougher... that contract though, I wonder if Bergevin is going to be fired fairly quickly for this.
EDIT: I meant Nashville is on the hook for recapture... I forgot the rule is the team that signed the player originally is on the hook for the savings. It makes less sense now that I think about it. Nashville now has literally no control over Weber's career. |

Makes no sense for MTL imo. They aren't even the same caliber of D anymore. Weber's best days are well behind him and his cap-anchor days or looming large. |
