I'm not as concerned about it after seeing how he attacked the issues on defence this off season. PLD was the target, out of his control. He has a season and another (hopefully high) lottery pick to sort that out.

I don't think it's as bad as people are making it out to be. The Oilers need to change their team and their culture, it started today. All the offence in the world and they still finished second last....defence wins.

I just want some entertaining hockey from them. I feel Gudbranson will help the back end in a physical way and it's possible Tryamkin makes strides to the cause as well. Up front I just want to see a couple new faces but I don't care the cost, just the term and how old they are.

I'd prefer to see us find an RFA that wasn't qualified sign like Pirri, Connolly, Colborne, etc. Boedker, McGinn and Okposo are my favs for UFA's.

I don't mind losing as long as the effort is there and some games last year it was lacking more often than not. Virtanen would benefit from a year in Utica and we could sign some cheap guys to 1 year show me contracts to fill the gaps. The top line with the Sedins is the only reason why we should spend money. The rest should be cheap young guys that can improve like Baertschi did. Connolly had a similar year to Baertschi and is 24. Pirri is a bit of a gamble but still only 25 and had a good season in 2014-15. McGinn might cost a bit more but he brings a bit of grit as well. Maybe even a Lucic lite you could call him but he did get 20 goals last year.

I'm not sure what is up with colborne but he seems to want to stay in cgy ...he will have to take less to stay though ..if he isn't in their plans he will probably be overpaid by some team

I was looking at the list of UFAs, interesting that at 39 Doan still scored 28 in 72 games. Better than most the young guys. Too bad we didnt sign him years ago
