It's like the entire league is trading around the Flyers. |

yeah, webers a monster but i dont like this from MTL's perspective at all. its not like theyre a budget team who will relish those last years of small payouts cash wise either. - stayinthefnnet
He's not. He's shown serious decline already in every underlying stat -- some people just want to live in 2010. I don't know if he makes my top 20 NHL d men list. Subban is top 3-5. |

Streit for Crosby.
Get it done, this is the day!!! - jmatchett383
Well let's see if Hextall sits on his hands. Some of these other GM's are showing they have big balls..
I would be happy with a Matt Read trade!! |

Team executive just now: "They should've called us -- we easily put together a better package than Adam Larsson for Taylor Hall."

After Ghost, Shea Weber is my favorite NHL player.
But my God, that's a horrible deal. Not as bad as Hall for Larsson, but it's a bad deal. |

for Stamkos, 10M after taxes in Toronto = 4.7M
10M after taxes in Tampa = 6.4M
and tampa is closer to a cup |

Shea Weber is on a far worse contract than Subban. Ok.
At this point in his career, just as players, he can't hold Subban's jock as an all-around, all-game player. My god. Sam Hinkie is wondering if there's a future for him in NHL GMing. - Mononoke
Didn't they already pay Weber the bulk of his deal though? Can this possibly be Montreal trying to save a (frank)ing dime? |

i still consider weber a good player. his value as an asset is lessened by his contract. In my opinion weber still makes the top 20, albeit in the higher teens most likely. He isn't as good as Subban currently is, and you have to assume that gap will only widen in the upcoming years. |

I just don't get this trade from a hockey perspective or any other perspective |

Are you kidding? Poile in Nashville just robbed Montreal blind and then had sex with Bergevin's wife. Three times!
Subban is a better d man on a better contract who is 4 years younger and not signed to age 40. He's just better as a player. It's not close imo. Nash. massively improved their team and financial situation with this trade. |

What does Montreal get out of this? At least Edmonton's awful deal made sense in some microscopic way trading a winger for a d man. With this one, it's a worse defenseman who is older on a worse contract for just a better one. They're both righties anyway.... - Mononoke
