exactly. i dont think he should have ever been the one to go, but if he is, you need to nail it with the return. larsson is not that. i think larsson for RNH would have been a deal with some inherent pros and cons baked in for both sides.

larsson has shown flashes that he can grow into a pretty good guy. but theres nothing that screams first pairing stud about him at this point in time, and he has had a few years.

they did need to make moves. but there was 0 reason it should have been hall. his contract is pretty damn decent too. there is just no way to spin this in a positive light for edmonton. is egregiously bad.

youre definitely a bit lower on larsson than I am, but i do see your point. I dont think RNH for larsson would have been great, but i never thought edmonton was going to get exactly fair value on these deals since everyone knew a shakeup had to come. but jesus. i certainly didnt expect it to be of this magnitude.

Eberle wouldn't have gotten close to either. RNH may have. If they traded Hall for Hamonic+prospect, that's a great trade. Shattenkirk+their 1/2 this year, great trade.

It's not that they traded Hall, who given fair return could indeed make their long term goals more attainable. It's what they got. God, it's like if we traded Voracek for Gudbranson straight up.
