Listening to the Chiarelli press conference, I think he placed way too much value on Larsson being a RH defenseman.

Already one team exec is on record stating that they werent made aware Hall was available. They would've packaged two 1st's and a 2nd pair D man as a starting point.

I can't believe this. Chia is going to literally get run out of that town.

As much as I don't like Subban for Weber for the Habs, that Hall deal is just flat out awful value for Edmonton

That's was weird. I watched it too. I wonder how Larsson does going from a guy to The guy.

If they sign Lucic and McDavid is healthy all season I think they make the playoffs.

I wonder what Jersey's line combinations are going to look like.

I wonder what their D corps will look like next season.

I'm assuming (perhaps unreasonably?) that Zacha makes the team next year.

He's a good player, and it fills a definite need for Edmonton. It also makes sense to trade from excess to fill a need. The problem is they didn't get equal value. They traded a top line player for a good young defenseman, but is he a top pair defenseman right now? I'd say no. Will he ever be, remains to be seen, but I'd put the odds against it. It's desperation for the most part. Shows the premium and the worth of defenseman, even if it is to an extreme.

Their D core could use a veteran like Streit

and they drafted McLeod too... Bill Meltzer seemed to think Jersey hit a home run with that pick. Le Sigh. I was so looking forward to Jersey being a non-factor for years to come.

Although we can't guarantee any of them will develop as hope, this illustrates how even more valuable the Flyers defense prospects are. Chiarelli needed to add defense, and Hall was the price he had to pay, for Larsson. Imagine the cost for a legitimate top pairing early 20's stud defenseman? He was willing to be raked over, to add a need. Not sure if you were willing to move Hall, why you wouldn't talk to every single team before making that deal.

Apparently NYI wouldn't trade Hamonic for Hall.

Oh I understand. Watching him talk about it it was like he just seemed he was ho hum. Like a very weak sell job to your fans.

Its a head scratcher. You'd think at the very least he would identify at least one other possible destination for Hall and make a phone call or two or three and say.. "here's the offer so far, can you top it?"

I hope the Oilers enjoy McDavid for the next 6 years, he's gonna want out of that poop show as soon as humanly possible.

Especially after the Seguin trade. This is just so baffling no matter how you look at it.

The only real drawback to Hall is that his productive prime will probably be cut short by his tendency to get injured. But yeah... still should have gotten more. Makes JvR for Schenn look reasonable in comparison.

They should've done Yak or RNH for anything before considering trading Hall. Actually with McDavid and Drasitl I'm shocked that it was not RNH who was moved.

RNH is making the same money as Hall, believe it or don't, with one more year.
