He's basically mid-2000's Sheldon Souray at this point. The decline won't be pretty. - Tomahawk
Sheldon Souray was never even reasonably close to Weber as a player. C'mon now. I think it's a bad deal because of age, and contract, and Montreal didn't upgrade their team. I think stating those factors, along with not making an upgrade to their team, is a objective analysis of the trade. Make no mistake about it though, Weber is still a very good, legitimate NHL top pairing defenseman. I agree that he may not be the same player he was 4 years ago, and it's fair to wonder about a decline, but let's not be ridiculous.

Wouldn't need to. They probably would've accepted MDZ for Hall. |

He obviously took less than he could've. It's about what he is worth, but that's a team discount based on his market value.
He wants to win and be a leader there. I commend him. |

I still can't wrap my head around what Montreal and Edmonton were thinking.
Adam Larsson is a good, solid young defenseman with a lot of upside, but Hall is one of the top wingers around. It seems Edmonton was more worried about getting a solid RHD than making a good trade or getting value.
As for the other deal, I think Subban is better than Weber & on a better contract and I know he's younger. Weber's still elite offensively, but in terms of his skating and shot suppression, he's really not an elite defender. Montreal will likely need to do what NJ did for Stevens in the twilight of his career & get him a smart, mobile partner. - Jsaquella
I'm not going to touch the first one. That can stand on it's own.
Can you imagine what Nashville is going to look like with Subban tooling around their blue line in Lavy's system? If they get goaltending bounce back next season I think they're the prohibitive favourite right now to win that division. That's saying something. |

All Morin has to do is make it to the NHL and put up like 15 points as a second pair guy and we can get Puljujarvi |

Mid-2000's Souray was a really good player. Legit top-pair D, one of the most productive/dominant point men in the league. That's where I'm saying Weber is right now. |

I refuse to believe Chia made it known league wide he was shopping Hall. That return is so goddamn weak. This isn't a struggling JVR we're talking about. |

I was saying it all year. Those costs were all based on him leaving TB. Everyone (EVERYONE) knew that if he left Tampa that the cost was going to be 8 figures. |

Weber is a better player now, and before, than Souray ever was. Weber is much better now, than some are saying he is. |

I wonder what kind of offers they got for him... The blood clots didn't help I'm sure... Damn i still say massive overpayment for our duo of 8 mill players. |

They may have been looking forward to who they were and werent going to be able to protect among the forward corps come expansion. I'm just guessing here. I can't really wrap my head around this one.
On the brighter side, no Oiler fan will ever bust our chops again about sending JvR out for L Schenn. - Doc_Sarcasm
I can't either. I like Larsson. But not for Taylor Hall |

Yeah, it's just mind boggling. At the absolute least, insist on draft pick or 2 along with Larsson. |

Your telling me hall couldn't get dumba or Brolin or maybe trouba? Just feel they didn't get enough and will now replace hall with 6million a season for lucic. |

Oilers probably could've or Larsson with the 35th overall in the draft tbh |
