I'm trying to figure out which is the most absurd. I'm honestly not sure.
What I will add is that if Larsson, a guy who only this season played a full season without being put into the AHL (albiet a very good season and has a good pedigree), can get you Hall, then thank sweet baby Jesus that Hexy has been stock piling D prospects! - coffee junkie
I thought the same exact thing. In this case, the Oilers were willing to pay a ransom for 2nd pairing defender. Even if he becomes a top pairing defender, I don't think he'll ever rate as high as Hall.
At the end of the day, we have a bunch of top end talent defense. No need to trade a Morin or Sanheim for Yakupov. NJD hardly dealt from a position of strength; whereas the Flyers absolutely can.
I think this helps our return if we look to move a young D, especially if it's done in the near future. And the Stamkos signing has to help the Schenn negotiations a tad. And we get to see Weber on a more frequent basis. I'm pretty happy about today.
The best part is the front office staff in Montreal and Edmonton are probably having a circle jerk right now about how fantastic they made out - Mononoke

Edmonton icontinues to embarrass themselves.
Much like the flYERS RIGHT PLIND?! AM I RIGHT?!!
LEFT HANDED LARSSONY ON WEBER'S SUBBAN DANCING SKHALL - Giroux_Is_God
Edmonton does continue to embarrass ..no question.
I am just looking for Hextall to upgrade the team. I am sure he is capable to pull off a steal.
I think there is a scene in Blazing Saddles that may explain the origins of the Montreal trade. The Montreal owner would be played by Mel Brooks, Bergevin by Harvey Korman and Subban by Cleavon Little.
I hope the Montreal fans crucify the management on the trade. Even after you take out the relative lopsidedness of the trade from an "on-ice" standpoint, I just don't see how you can trade one of the top 3 charismatic, personable, marketable players in the entire sport. Nashville will love him.
Here is the punchline if you don't want to read it:
Verdict: This is a landslide win for New Jersey. Even if the Edmonton Oilers are, as rumoured, poised to sign left winger Milan Lucic as a free agent, there is no justification for the Oilers to only get Larsson in return for Hall. Strictly in terms of asset management, it’s unacceptable.
Listen, I'd enjoy if the flyers were making some big moves, but in all honesty, it's been fairly enjoyable to watch the brutally one sidedness sink in on MTL and EDM fans.
Again, point taken that taxes in Canada are higher but unless the TSN guy is also his accountant and tax preparer, I'm sure those numbers are wrong. - Scoob

Chiarelli just ended his chances at an Oscar.
(cause...he, y'know...has gone full tard)

I think the campfire scene is more appropriate to describe those front offices at the time of the trades

Even if they sign Lucic, which I bet they will, he's not getting any younger at 28 years old. Maybe they do have a handshake deal with Lucic, which the league should investigate and punish Edmonton for.
They should be forced to draft at #30 in the 1st round for the next 20 years.

Punish for a handshake deal? Meh. Every team does it. No need to get on a high horse.

With the new rule that teams are allowed to talk to other teams UFA's earlier before July 1, it's silly not to realize that teams are going to make unofficial offers to players, in that time period.
I'm convinced the league orchestrated that Taylor Hall trade for New Jersey. That's the only rational explanation.
And I guess Michel Therrien got his way with dumping PK.
This will likely be the 2nd time Therrien is on the wrong side of a franchise's history (he was the guy fired for Dan Bylsma when the Pens won in '09).
