There is no way the Bruins could be offer sheeting Trouba and give up 4 firsts could they? That sounds ridiculous.
- Aetherial

The rumour was less than 9mil. 4x1st is over 9mil.

What was reported is utterly insane.

Something I wonder about:

Would Stamkos agree to a sign and trade?

I don't think you can actually write an agreement that forces Tampa to trade you, so he's running the risk of signing an 8-year agreement, and then having Stevie Y inform him that he has changed his mind and the deal is off.

Remote possibility, sure.

But it's still out there.

- Atomic Wedgie

If Steve y signed him on the agreement of signal and trade and he did that he'd lose all credibility. I think zero chance of that happening.

I dont see how Stamkos gets less than Toews/Kane

I also think there is 0% chance of it actually happening.

I'm just wondering if Stamkos' agent would advise him to not sign it - because of the theoretical threat.

You certainly know a lot about contracts and stuff.

Offer Sheets averages over max of 5 years. Meaning the 49 mill over 7 years will average to 9.8 million (49/5).

Really?

I can easily see how.

Less points.

Less individual awards.

Less rings.

I think the cap hit, for purposes of the compensation calculation is 5 years... so a 49 million offer means like 4 picks.

I am not sure if I read that correctly though.

What the he'll are you talking about? I'm talking about the Truba rumors that Boston is going to offer 7-9mil deal.

Doesn't a sign and trade bypass the rules of the CBA about maximum term?

I'm sure they could put language in the contract that voids it if say stamkos isn't traded to Toronto within 24 hrs.

You replied to a comment that the Bruins won't give up 4 1sts. But once again you are wrong and once again you are in complete denial. The contract they are rumoured to offer is going to be 4 1sts.

BTW, I do love your inane replies.

I didn't see anything about yrs offered. I only saw they were reportedly offering 7-9 mil.

Crosby's cap hit is 8.7, Malkin's 9.5.

Stamkos would be nice to have but I really doubt his value at anything past 8-9 mil. Tampa doesnt need him. Toronto doesn't "need" him as much as they did before they got Matthews, but of course, he's still a major catch. I dont know.

If he wants to be the highest payed player in the NHL, I'm sure Buffalo or Ottawa will give him 12-13 mil per year. Which is a waste of money.

Just heard on the radio that Leafs went to see Stamkos/Meehan with the Mayor of Toronto and a big rep from Canadian Tire (lol. there's that outside sponsorship!)

Well I can see a case for him not being worth more than them..sure

but, when I say i cant see him getting less, I mean in regards to it being 2016, he is the first huge 26yo UFA to hit the market... many teams are sure to offer more than 10.5 ...stuff like that

My guess is Lou has simply put a number on a piece of paper and let Stamkos decide how much he wants to play in Toronto.

I WHOLE-HEARTEDLY agree with this...

However, there is a difference between cost to resign with the team you are already playing for an open market value. If Toews or Kane hit the open market they would be getting 14 or 15M offers hypothetically.

(I'm in the wagon that I don't want Buffalo to be giving up a 12M contract.. I don't care who you are)

I thought the rangers bought Richards out of that horrible contract. So I guess the Leafs did win by not signing him.

A dumb reply how? You have serious problems. D

I replied to a comment, yes. And what I saw said they were going to offer 7-9mil. So, based on that is what I was replying to isn't wrong.
