It's a good day for the Leafs. Having Tampa resigning Stamkos takes the pressure off to make this move. The Leafs just need to stay the course and take their time doing the rebuild right. To rush it and wreck your cap moving forward, would have been a big mistake. If this would have come to be, two years from now, then different story. We finished dead last this year, and at best, we move up 7 spots in the overall standings, this year. Stamkos wouldn't have gotten us to the playoffs, in the coming year. However, if his health issues return, the Leafs would've been on the hook for the full contract, since the contract would not have been insured, like Nathan Horton. Let the other teams panic. Staying the course is the best move right now. |

Shea Weber is still a very good defenseman. However, the age difference will catch up to the Habs, in a couple of years. The Habs are already trending down. They should have tried to get younger and not older, in trading Subban. There's going to be some rouge faces, when the Leafs catch and pass the Habs in the standings going forward. |

Yeah but our net on that deal is Frederick Andersson, Kirby Reichel and Kaspery Kapanen. We got younger and filled a major hole. The Habs got older and less competitive. The Habs window for a playoff run is now 2 years. After that, they trend lower into the standings.

Almost everybody was unanimous in the fact that it was time to trade Kessel, one way or the other. On the other hand, Habs have now paid a massive amount of money to an inferior player because the guy who the terrible coach wanted to be traded had too much personality... |
