You'd think having a mason would have been a lot more beneficial ....although he was not cheap ...cost a lot ...so he wasn't exactly a free mason

I remember the Leafs dilemma, where no-one could possibly imagine anyone taking Phaneuf, or Kessel and their HUGE long contracts. Then there was the $7.5M Datsyuk cap money, that took all of a week to pass on to a team looking to spend little money, yet benefit from a cap value. Clarkson would NEVER be traded, who would take that contract.

There are plenty of opportunities to move contracts if the will is there.

It isn't a stretch to think that in 5 or 6 years Montreal would be able to move Webber's $7.86M cap hit to a budget team, Vegas or Quebec, or Arizona (still). For them to spend $3M for a year, and then $1M for three years in real money. There's no reason. To think it wouldn't happen, it's happening already.

Like I said before. Only time will tell.

The cap cost is more of a secondary issue here. The big thing is that Montreal traded an asset about to hit his prime for an aging asset showing clear signs of slowing down. It's just a stupid trade no matter how you try to spin it.

Sometimes I can find Subban annoying, but I think the dressing room things said about him are overblown. This seemed more like a GM trading a player he didn't like personally rather than a GM making a trade to make his team better.

Provided he is still a somewhat useful player in the last 3-4 years of that deal, yes, it's possible that someone will take the cap hit, but if not, it becomes a little harder to move.

Datsyuk is easy because it's 1 year, Kessel and Phaneuf are still useful players. That said, the best example here may be Pronger, but because of his injury status etc, I can't recall how that played out for the cap hit.

flames talking to Brouwer. 30 years of age coming off 18 goals and 21 assist for Blues, was making 3.66 million. what y'all think fam. I like Brouwer, definitely a type of player we need, I guess hewould be 2nd line?

On another note I cant help but think Tkachuk will be ready for the team and slide right into a top spot, I am not saying this is what I Think is best, I just have a feeling it will be the case.
