They just traded Hall for a poor man's Gio. This is hilarious on so many levels. Cue the spin in 3, 2, 1... |

Rumour was that Hall was on the block for a dman (from TSN) - IMO, that's a mistake if you are the Oil, and am in agreement that you move one (or more) of the others not named McDavid - rmull905
Prophetic - what a dumb deal |

I guess Lucic may be in the cards after all for the Oil |

I think Larsson is exactly what they need... but I can't believe the price... I know Nuge and Ebs have low value right now... but wouldn't you rather give up both of those guys rather than Hall? Even Drai and Ebs together...
It's unbelievable. |

Finally, a GM with some bals to trade one of their top forwards for a D-man. Just doesn't seem like enough value for Hall. But, I guess if thats what was available, and a FA you want is available too,... they give up Hall and gain Larsson and Lucic . Oiler fans will probably like it. Especially if they finish next season. Higher than 28th. |

And now Subban for Shea Weber... the hockey world has gone crazy. |
|
|
|
Eventually, this is going to look like a good deal.
Nurse is getting close to being a top 4 guy. Klefbom too.
Still need to add another right shooting , but on the right track.
Larsson, Nurse, Sekera, Klefbom, Fayne.
What doesn't make any sense is Subban for Webber |

What in the hell is Nashville thinking? I think this is a Great trade for Montreal. |

Sign Bouma to an 8 year, 4 mill/per extension...
I think they would be well served to hold onto that cap space for now - when truly ready to compete, use it to get the vets that will get you over the top (who have little term remaining).
If they move Wideman, door opens to guys like Okposo, but I am very leery of taking on big deals this year with expansion and a way better potential FA class next year:
Benn
Hedman
Burns
Bishop
Thornton
Elliot
Shattenkirk
Steen
Guys like Lucic/Okposo are tempting, but if Tbay blows their wad on Stamkos, one of Bishop or Hedman are available next year.
Burns is older than I thought, so a real possibility he makes it to FA as well
Hedman and Benn are the class of the crop, no doubt about it, and there is no expansion draft to be worried about either...
Next summer could be one of the best classes in recent memory in free agency - rmull905
Bumping this for relevance. NO FAs please. |

I'm calling it now... the Stamkos deal is a sign and trade.
It's that kind of day today. |

No... trading elite D today only gets you Shea Weber. But Dougie might get us McDavid... |

7.8ish for a 30 y/o dman on decline through 2026. Not sure I agree with you. |

Yep. Weber is already declining, and Subban is in his prime. Wonder if it was an attitude thing, Subban does seem a bit cocky, but is certainly the superior player.
Now I know why NSH matched that offer sheet |

Subban is massively better than Weber. 4 years ago...? Maybe a pretty even swap... but Weber hasn't been elite in years. |

Bad trades have to involve a Canadian GM not in Ontario or winnipeg.
Bouma for Yak
|

Ok if Adam Larssen alone can get a team back Taylor Hall, then some team must be willing to take Wideman plus a sweetener for next to nothing. |
