Would be harder to name 8 worse...

Well seeing that they had the third best record in the conference despite all of their issues and nobody near them, aside from Tampa, did anything significant I tend to think your previous statement is a straight up overreaction.

Let's not get crazy now. I'm not happy with the inaction and I stand firm that this team needs another legit natural goal scorer. But I can't sit here and say they want be a playoff team. I don't think they go far as constructed but definitely still a competitive team.

I'm getting this weird McIlrath to Edmonton for Yakupov feeling. I don't know why. The egg salad sandwich I had for lunch must have been bad.

I know people will not agree with me, but lets remember, Girardi was hurt last year, Nash was hurt last year, the team just looked tired. They are going to have their longest rest in years till training camp, everybody will start the season healthy except Hips Lindberg. Is there any reason to believe even if the team stayed relatively the same, it wouldn't be slightly better next year, at the worst the same?

I agree with you actually. But, I still think they can use a bit of shakeup.

Hopefully you're on the money MM. Rangers brass do tend to F me up
Not sure they could have done much right now, but last few years they always WAIT until their players can ask for MORE... IMO their biggest issue...

The sky is falling, according to most, because they went from the Cup Finals, to the semi-finals, to getting knocked out in the first round, all the while getting older. We have been spoiled by decent success now, so we are more reactionary to a bad playoff result and the proverbial "window" closing. But, the team still has some really good pieces. It's just a matter of some of the young kids playing better, including the young d men that are going to step into Yandle, and to a lesser extent, Boyle's roles. I think they generally be fine, but still hoping for some new blood.

Agreed.

However teams that stay the same don't typically improve. Right now with the goaltender that's here and the core that's here the goak should be a cup. I just don't feel that slightly better means a championship. Sure there's always the trade deadline let alone still 3 more months til the season. Just don't want to miss getting that shot in the arm because of inaction.

Yup, I wouldn't mind seeing some moves. I'm certainly not advocating leaving the team as is, but if thats what happens this offseason, I would think that they actually might be slightly better then last year. Skjei/McIlrath get a full year, can't imagine Hayes has another year like last and maybe Kreider finally plays to his level. Miller finally stepping up. Healthy Girardi and Nash, and probably the biggest thing. Lots of rest.

Unless something major is happening, we all know we're not going to the SCF. Why not have a shakeup+ and be ready in -17...?

100% agree. Trust me, I'm not advocating staying the same, I just don't think it will be as bad as some make it out to be, if thats what happens.

That's a lot of if' though I agree with you about the rest part but I'm sure you can understand why a lot of fans would have a negative attitude when there's no improvements made so far and it's Hayes shouldn't have another bad yr or Nash and Girardi will be healthy and the young guys will step up It's all hypothetical right now. And that doesn't leave a good taste in a lot of people's mouth.

Huh?

All I said was keeping the team relatively the same doesn't make them basement dwellers.

I am not advocating the team stays the same, I said in a worse case scenario they are still a playoff team.

I hope the Rangers go 98-0-0 next year enroute to a champhionship. I know it's not going to happening. I hope they make the the playoffs, I'm just leery that they won't.

The Hall for Larson deal makes McD for Gomez look fair.
