really? Please tell us how Weber rapidly declined the last 2 years. How come he is a member of team Canada but not PK? I get how people are carried over by PK's departure but we are talking about Shea Weber for (frank) sake. And if he retires in the last four years of his contract, it's gonna be on Preds' hands.

I had a hard time with the way MB handled this year's fiasco but this trade is part of the solution not the problem. People like to forget we just got a 20 goals scorer.

it's all downhill from here.
he's set to play with the old timers at the outdoor game on January 1st.

I must admit though that it's highly unlikely now that Chris Kreider will run Price and skate away like a ballerina

This.

what sense does this make for a team that's abysmal

- ehabs9

The only way it makes sense is if he makes some major upgrades in the next 3 days. It would have made more sense had he dealt the 9th pick for help now.

This trade... It's a lateral move short term and a terrible move long term. If you trade for Shea Weber in June and then go into September with Plekanec, Desharnais and Andrew Shaw as top 6 forwards, you don't know what you're doing.

The numbers and comparisons have been posted numerous times. People just reply, "analytics are for losers, I watch hockey sometimes and I can see clearly Weber is amazing". Which is fine, I mean why take into account how many shots and scoring chances a player allows when you can say "I really like the way he plays"

Sure he will. Because 2 (frank)in weeks with this bunch will turn Shea Weber into Marsha Brady.

Again there are stats to back up the claim he's declining. All you have to back up the claim he isn't is "I don't think he is"

Plekanec had 54 points last season. That's good enough to be a second line centre. He needs wingers.

302 giveaways against 141 over the last 3 years. But hey, those analytics just shows how much of a possession beast PK is, right?

I have a hard time believing Subban was that bad of a teammate to warrant such a trade, but let's see how the team performs collectively with Weber instead.

There's no doubt in anyone's mind that Weber will bring much needed leadership. But getting a player on the decline for one at its peak is hard to understand, any way you slice it.

The Habs are not going to go out and get 2-3-4 players that will make them contenders. They are going to be stuck with more mediocre players, be a mediocre team, and maybe make the playoffs if everything goes right.

Clucster(frank) of a trade... everyone is trying to get younger and faster, except the Habs - MB does not want his team to be pushed around.

To bad the GM can't say that about himself.

Ok so, Weber gives the puck up less(because the other team usually has it), but he lets other teams try to score far more often. Great trade off

More tied to different type of play. PK carries the puck / was asked to carry the puck. Weber was not.

He needs a new role. He had a hot start like everyone else then disappeared for 60 games.

Oh right he had that 7 points in 2 games when nothing mattered any more.

Not a game changer or difference maker.

But hey - he was a Hawk, so MB will be all over it. Until Ladd uses the offer as leverage to sign elsewhere.
