Over rated and over paid. Injury prone. Not a good leader. Looks Swedish.

but what about the million lineups posted....that ALL included Stamkos, it was a done deal, almost 4M in Canadian tire money coming his way...

Hes older and he's signed for eternity. Not a great combo.
- cburgess

Valid point, I forgot about his 99 year contract.

So saves them a million, not really that much. Weird. Possibly all that stuff about being over the top was too much for them. I honestly don't get this trade from either side, weber is a few years older as well.

This is the first time I thought there may have actually been a legit shot of it happening.
- Yeti1181

Never believed it.
Why would Stamkos go to Toronto?!? As I said, these top players want to win. Not in 4-5 years. Now.

Seriously though, I think the Habs win this deal in the short term. Weber is better than PK right now. Long term, it's a big swing and a miss by Bergevin. That contract is ugly. From a Habs perspective, you have to hope the short term stretches out more than a season or two. It's already pretty well documented that Weber is already on the decline.

a season or two? what the (frank)? I bet you could name more players that hit their bad years closer to age 36 than 32

It's a toss up between a media leak with Subban accused of giving a dude a BJ and Weber being admitted to one of our fine nursing homes. They now serve instant mashed potatoes... oh and they give weekly baths.

The greatest line that ever came out of his blog was how "Pegula had a knack for signing grade A talent such as Leino, Ott and (forget the name)"

Guess he should have moved south to the Panthers if that was the plan.

He would have made a poopload of money. I'm glad he took less to stay with his team. Nice to see a little heart.

Simmer down. I never said he would be bad. He'll be an effective d-man for the forceable future. A #1 guy like he's considered now though? A bit unlikely.

The last game Weber played he looked like he belonged in the ECHL, and that was against San Jose, hardly a speedy team

(frank), talk about a short window! Did you see Toews last game played? Or Pietrangelo? Jesus, really.

Its hard to explain how a coin works when flipped. Its not really a 50-50 chance since the Heads side actually weighs more and more likely end up on the bottom.

It was more the not signing the deal and going to basically free agency. Toronto has done some good in the last year and half. Maybe he believed in them. Never know.
