I wasn't upset over either of those guys. Look beyond his goals and points. Almost every expert in the game has said he is declining. Many even said he shouldn't be on team Canada. - muffin_man
Tanner doesn't count. |

It will be nearly impossible to move that contract.
And that's what I love about Montreal. We're always on this side of the trade. Declining player on an unmovable contract? Call Montreal.
Player has an "attitude" problem in Montreal? Hey lets go acquire him for a pile of poop. - DoubleDown
He gets paid 3M, 1M, 1M, 1M in the last 4 years thats very easy to trade...do you think teams like Arizona that are desperate to get to the floor won't exist in the year 2022?
I have no reason to believe Shea won't be a good player when he is 36 or 37, and if you are only female doging because of the last 4 years of the deal well read this post over from the start. |

Weber a gaffé défensivement autant que Subban durant les derniers playoffs. Je pense que le monde exagère beaucoup les différences entre Weber et Subban. La différence est l'âge, le contrat et la personnalité. - Not_Yan

It's amazing. Weber or Doughty can poop their pants and it's "oh well poop happens". Subban turns the puck over in the offensive zone OMG HES A CANCER! |

You have no idea what the cap landscape will be in 8 or 9 years. Doesn't the CBA expire before that? |

Just waiting to see what diarrhea MB will be trying to shove down our throats by July 2nd. Hab fan are gonna be eating a lot of poop for the next few years, then Price and Patches will leave.
But it is all good, we will have Gallagher and Shaw. And an even less productive Weber.
And still be without a plan.

Pietrangelo aussi a été désastreux, Toews a manqué de jus cette année et pourtant c'est des joueurs qu'on accueillerait à bras ouverts. |

No. Because he will not be worth the cap hit, (frank) the salary. |

Weber and Doughty are top 3, PK is top 10.

the cap hit is a fictitious number to teams try to reach the cap floor....the salary is the only thing that matters to them |

Weber has 10 years left at almost $8M.
If he retires, the new cap circumvention rules for players / contracts such as Weber will kill the Habs down the line.
Worth taking the risk, if you are gonna win it all now (or on the cusp of). Not worth the risk if you are struggling just to make the playoffs. - Mashadar

If Weber retires before contract ends, #Preds will be charged on the cap $24,571,432 divided by years remaining in recapture penalties.
apparently not... |

So you are saying, we trade a guy who is entering his prime, for a guy who has a few y ears left... and then trade that old guy to get cap space back, while the guy we just traded is in his prime?
(frank)ING BRILLIANT!
Almost brilliant enough to be the next GM. |

Therrien will be promoted to an executive role and Patrice Brisebois will be the head coach. Fidopro will be his assistant, telecommuting from Florida. |

Subban wasn't at McDonaugh's or even Karlsson's level when they matched up. I did not even think he was a comparable to Weber or Doughty, not the same league at all. Subban had a good mouth on him with little to nothing to back it up. I predict he will not be able to fill Weber's skates in Nashville. |

Yup, that's all on the Preds. But just read they owed Weber an 8 million signing bonus Friday, well...guess that's the Habs now. |

Nothing to back it up? Ok. Every measurable statistic flies in the face of that. As does a Norris trophy and a separate Norris nomination. But hey J-P from Hockeybuzz wasn't sold so... |

You have no idea what the cap landscape will be in 8 or 9 years. Doesn't the CBA expire before that? - DoubleDown
Yeah, 8 years ago:
The Thrashers still existed, Ilya Kovalchuk was playing for them and scored 91 points.
Marc Savard was a point per game center.
First and Second Team All-Star Defensemen were Mike Green, Zdeno Chara, Nik Lidstrom and Dan Boyle.
Gary Roberts and Mike Sillinger were still playing.
A LOT can change in that time. |
