I know it's not an easy sale, PK for Weber,
PK is very popular, very entertaining, but if you look only at the hockey player, not that bad a deal for Mtl. Honestly PK didn't play like a 9M dman last year. far from it. - fidopro
every single hockey analyst over the past 18 months has pointed to a marked deterioration in Weber's play. many people thought he had no business being named to Team Canada. Montreal just traded a great defenceman in his prime for a great defenceman on the decline. it is a horrible, horrible trade made by a general manager who over 4 years has proven that he doesn't know what the (frank) he's doing. he will destroy this entire organization by the time he's done.

Yeah...I'm just trying to be a little positive.
For the next year or two it's probably a wash. But unfortunately Webber has 10 years left on his contract. - stormeyAlterEgo

They *were* saying it was a possibility. (sign and trade)
Thing is MB better make one hell of a trade for something amazing, and soon, or there will be blood in the streets

I am completely dumbfounded. They got an older player at the savings of 1.2 million that put up less points on a more offensively gifted team. I don't see the upside in this at all.
WTF? |

we can now put to bed the theory or the possibility that Michel Therrien could or would ever be fired by Marc Bergevin. |

he is but he is getting worse. Josi and Jones were both better. - muffin_man
Weber is very solid but not as a primary generator.
Subban is a spark. He makes things happen.
So while skill might not be that big a difference, Subban filled a need that Weber won't. |

Weber on the decline is still better than PK in his prime. Less spectacular I agree, but much better.
And he doesn't create trouble in the room. |

Habs are an embarrassment, honestly. Why in the world would you make this trade. Somehow Therrien is still a Montreal Canadiens but Subban is not. This team is going nowhere and fast. Back a dead beat coach over your star player. Just like the Roy days. |
