How about Di Giuseppe? I don't know how you or the Canes feel about him, but he seems like he'll be a solid top-9 guy.

I don't think they really want to trade PDG. Seems like the kind of steady, physical 2nd/3rd liner 15(ish) goal per year guy they need.

Young, cheap, and quickly becoming a fan favourite.

This is going to suck if we lose both Hall and Nuge
- prismo

Embrace it bro! Change is good! Turn the page! They've had their chance.

I get you guys like Hall but it's best he goes IMO.

I just don't understand a Lucic deal for any of the teams rumored to be after him (Edm, Van, Cal). His next 3 years will be where his value is to a team, then he will become a contract problem as his play degrades, imo. None of these teams are really in compete mode when Lucic is going to be a positive contributor.
- Beergu

Oilers will be in a compete mode with adding Lucic , Demers plus a number 1 D, it is going to happen, 10 years of no playoffs has to end, with the Oil going into a new barn, good times are coming.

Fair. I can't say there's much else of interest. If no one else offers a more valuable piece, the Murphy and a 2nd might suffice (though I'd prefer Carrick). I just kinda want to be rid of him.

Congrats!!!

Doing well man. Trying to figure out the next job opportunity after I'm done in sunny California, but otherwise all is gravy

- lumlums

Well just make sure you and Mrs. Lums get outta California before it falls off into the ocean. We all saw how that works out in the movie Demolition Man.

Any of Carrick, McKeown, Murphy, Fleury, or Pesce could be involved in a deal for a forward. Hell, throw Jake Bean in there too. Too many young D.

Just picture the future D corps, though. They won't all develop as expected, but even then it's terrifyingly deep

Hanifin- Faulk
Fleury- McKeown
Slavin- Pesce
Bean- Carrick
Lowe- Murphy

Speaking of fwds- did anyone know that Jersey only has 3 signed fwds as of this am... WOW- they were talking about it on NHL on XM this am... Might be opportunity there

We'll see where we end up next... There's always a desire to move back north, though there are some potential opportunities in Boston and DC that look interesting for us both

Yeah, it's looking good.

Barring any real trades, in three years we could be looking at:

Jeff Skinner - Victor Rask - Julien Gauthier
Sebastian Aho - Elias Lindholm - Teuvo Teravainen
Phil Di Giuseppe - Jordan Staal - Andrej Nestrasil
Aleksi Saarela - Nicolas Roy - Brock McGinn

Noah Hanifin - Justin Faulk
Jaccob Slavin - Haydn Fleury
Roland McKeown - Brett Pesce
Jake Bean

However, that's assuming everyone develops as they should. That never happens.

Not necessarily true since Blandisi and Zacha have two way contracts but will be in the NHL roster, bringing the total to 5 and 4 RFA Fwds have been qualified which brings them to 9. That doesn't included Bennett or DSP who are expected to be back, or potentially Elias. I don't think the Devils are going to be real active this offseason.

Apparently he's part of a couple potential deals. Aside from that, he's a solid AHL shutdown guy who'd be a decent sheltering option.

Go the 8 skaters route and protect Leon, Nelson, Eberle, Lucic, Klefbom, Sekera, Hamonic, and Dumba. That leaves, Pouliot, Haula, Davidson, and Maroon as the players of note available for selection. While I'd prefer to keep those guys, I wouldn't let the fear of losing one of them stop me from improving the team by leaps and bounds.

Then we have PUJU, Khaira, Cagiulla, Slepyshev, and Nurse ready to break onto the roster the following year. I see no issue with opening up a slot for our young guys.

- MaximumBone

Would need to protect Nurse.

Nope. In the same way we wouldn't need to protect McDavid, Nurse is covered. He'd still be in the second year of his ELC.

My bad. Was thinking Drai.... it's early to me. The limited brain use I get is restricted until at least noon. And I'm in BC so I got another hour.

It would be awesome for every other team if that fat (frank)er named McKenzie signed with the Oil
