Just don't turn into insufferable Pens or Hawk fans when you finally win something.

Well not being a bottom feeder- and winning a cup are very different things... But ya...

Pens fans were insufferable from the very moment they won the Crosby lotto, just got amplified when they won a cup.

The Hawks are by far the (frank)ing worst though.

I don't think so.

If you get good Dmen back, I think you won't miss them.

- Aetherial

Let's say hypothetically that Hall brings back a return like Hamonic and Nelson and Nuge and Musil(?) brings back a return like Dumba and Haula. Then assume that both of these trades would only take place if Lucic was already signed, would that not improve the team by leaps and bounds?

Lucic- McDavid- Eberle
Pouliot- Leon- Nelson
Maroon- Haula- Connolly*
Hendricks- Letestu- Kassian
Pakarinen, Lander

Klefbom- Hamonic
Sekera- Dumba
Davidson- Redmond*
Paliotta*

That's a competitive team that doesn't even include and prospects like PUJU, Khaira, Cagiulla, or Slepyshev. We'd be pretty well off, even if the team would have a VERY different look.

Money and term was not discussed at the #Canucks meeting with Lucic last night, Canucks had mayor of VAN drop by and say hi to Lucic.

Sorry guys, this seals it - he's going to Van...

Cant see too many who post in here now being like that but there will be the bandwagon jumpers who might develop that attitude...well maybe a few knocks on some other teams due to years of troll abuse

Played as a #4-5 D-man, should see a bit of PP time this year.

- PepinoPamplemousse

Still doesn't exactly fill the hole. Unless we're bringing back a Pietrangelo-level Dman, he wouldn't offset the value Nuge brings to the team alone.

Perhaps with the losing culture we have developed this is what is needed...if a different looking team is a better team then do it...as long as it starts turning into winning seasons for us thats all that should matter

If trading Hall fills a massive need then they got to do it....I know Hall is a very talented player but if trading him makes the TEAM better you do it 10/10 times
- RatedR80

If Hall goes it's for a bonefide #1 Dman. Period.

I'm hoping we don't give Lucic a stupid deal. I'm ok with Demers as long as there are not any NMC/NTC clauses and it's not ridiculous overspend.

But you wouldnt be against the idea of trading Hall if the return was right which is the point really....I am a bit worried about signings due to it being UFA signings and those always seem to be an overpay regardless

Go the 8 skaters route and protect Leon, Nelson, Eberle, Lucic, Klefbom, Sekera, Hamonic, and Dumba. That leaves, Pouliot, Haula, Davidson, and Maroon as the players of note available for selection. While I'd prefer to keep those guys, I wouldn't let the fear of losing one of them stop me from improving the team by leaps and bounds.

Then we have PUJU, Khaira, Cagiulla, Slepyshev, and Nurse ready to break onto the roster the following year. I see no issue with opening up a slot for our young guys.

I just don't understand a Lucic deal for any of the teams rumored to be after him (Edm, Van, Cal). His next 3 years will be where his value is to a team, then he will become a contract problem as his play degrades, imo. None of these teams are really in compete mode when Lucic is going to be a positive contributor.

Nah. I wouldn't be shocked if they offered Murphy and a 2nd or something similar, though.

How about Di Giuseppe? I don't know how you or the Canes feel about him, but he seems like he'll be a solid top-9 guy.
